I know that there are some university students among us. Simonwillems, for instance, is writing on his PhD. but I have no idea what his area of research is. There's one reason why I decided to open this thread: I'm a university student myself. I'm doing the teacher training programme for the subjects Englisch and Psychologie & Philosophie. The latter two beginning with"P" form one subject though you can study them seperately outside the teacher training programme. And in Austria you are obliged to have two subjects for the teacher training programme. So they are 1) English and 2) Philosophie & Psychologie. I'm also studying English and American studies. Well, that's not much more work since most lectures and seminars are identical with the courses you have to attend for the teacher training programme for English. I'm currently writing on my thesis.

So how about you? What are you studying? Have you studied at uni? Or are you going to study something at university?

I am a graduate in Sociology & Social Policy with Social Work Studies, (it was a very sociable course). I graduated from Southampton University in England.

But it turns out that I can't do anything with that degree so I'm now studying Modern Language Studies (English & French) online through the Open University. I'm due to graduate in 2014!!

I studied applied physics and after that did a PhD in physics in The Netherlands. I still haven't quite left the university, because I currently work for the university that 'Wile Manc' attended in the UK -although not in the department where he studied obviously. I reckon there aren't too many physicists working in the sociology department.

Cheers,

Ralph

This is an odd thread, but I'll post...

I have a BS in Educational Psychology and a MS in Counselor Education/Community Counseling. I graduated with my MS in 2006. Both of my degrees are from Mississippi State University. I am currently finishing my requirements for my LPC which is a private practice license for therapists. I specialize in substance abuse and dual diagnosis (which means chemical dependency and another diagnosis such as depression or other mental illness). I plan to begin a PhD program in the next few years and focus on chemical dependency as well as other compulsive disorders.

Seems kinda odd based in the number of posts in this thread how many people are in a psychologyish field.

I agree. I'm a member of the Brickish association and most people in that either do something technical (engineering and such) or in IT.

Cheers,

Ralph

What a coincidence - how is the old place?

Let me take a wild stab - Medical College, University Of Wales??

They don't call me the Welsh wizard for nothing at all.

Not sure how long ago you left, but I reckon that the biggest change that you would notice is that they're replacing the rather nice dolphin logo with the name of the university written in some expensive-looking font as part of a new 'branding' operation. Considering how many of the Dolphins you see around campus and in town, it'll probably be a while before they'll all be gone though.

Other than that, there's been a lot building work on the Highfield campus. ECS is getting a new building to replace the two damaged and destroyed an a massive fire about two years ago, biomedical is moving from Boldrewood to Highfield, so they're getting a new building and ISVR have a new building as well.

I'm studying architecture in innsbruck, austria, right now...

That's a pretty cool coincidence! I'm also in Innsbruck, but this is my last semester there. My studies are nearly finished. I can finish my thesis at home as well with just some little trips to the university library.

I have a Diploma of Collegiate Studies in Creative Arts (Performance) from Marianopolis College, and am currently in the process of obtaining an Honours Specialization in Communications (maybe with a minor in Sociology) from the University of Ottawa.

Yep, University of Wales, College of Medicine. Since merged with the University of Wales, College Cardiff. And they've stopped doing my degree.

Currently (and have been for a while ) studying computer science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (though "of Technology and Science" makes a better acronym ) in Trondheim.

I'm an "economy and administrative subjects" student at Østfold University College, moving into what I hope will be my final year before moving into work. This year I will begin with "Project leadership"-courses, which basically means I'm heading out to companies and actually gain experience within the course - "getting a foot within" while I'm at it. Apparently all students in my line are recruited before they leave school, which is a very big plus (practically beginning the day after school is over).

NTNU. I was there a few years ago for a conference. Trondheim is a fantastic city and I really enjoyed my stay there. It was around this time of year though, when the sun hardly goes down. I'm not the kind of pub-crawler who used to going home when the sun is already up, but in Trondheim that's hard to avoid. Fortunately my hotel room had decent curtains.

Though I'm not in a university quite yet (I'm 15, after all - 3 more years of High School to finish, lol!), I plan to go to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. As for what I plan to study there - I'm not entirely certain, but I'm planning to either enter into the law or chemistry fields, probably depending on which seems better to me when it is time to go there. Depending on how the next three years of HS go, I may also decide to go for work in the field of medicine instead; since I am taking health sciences (not really a choice...).

I have two degrees, and hopefully that's enough. I have a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. I just received my Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California. I'm taking the California Bar Exam at the end of July, and when I leave the exam, I will be driving to the nearest store that carries LEGO and will be taking a huge set home as a "I finished the exam" prize. Hopefully the new RGS will be out by then.
