Lion King Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Hmmm I’m not familiar with that set for Chinese New Year so I will look it up. But that set looks fantastic! Quote

Specifically this isn't based on Chinese New Year but rather the Mid-Autumn Festival (hence the inclusion of mooncakes and a fig representing Su Dongpo, a Song dynasty poet who wrote a famous poem about the mid-autumn moon). This topic is labeled as Chinese New Year sets but the "theme" as such is actually called "Chinese Traditional Festivals" (even if in past years that has rarely included festivals other than the spring festival celebrating the Lunar New Year). It's great to see the theme branching out more to include other occasions and celebrations! Quote
RichardGoring Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago It looks amazing, but I've just realized they don't have the animal year costume in this set, which normally happens. I wonder if that means another set, or they're going to drop the idea, which is a bit of a shame. 33 minutes ago, Lyichir said: Specifically this isn't based on Chinese New Year but rather the Mid-Autumn Festival (hence the inclusion of mooncakes and a fig representing Su Dongpo, a Song dynasty poet who wrote a famous poem about the mid-autumn moon). That makes sense not to have the New Year animal costume in it then. Quote

Yeah, this thread’s title automtially amkes me think of Chinese New Year, rather than traditions festivals. But it’s really nice to have non-CNY festivals. Come to link I remember that story when I was in college. My colelge used to celebrate that traditon when it was mid-autumn. I am hoping there are no stickers. Quote
