If any of you have ever visited LegoLand's bulk "pick-a-brick" shop, this is what I'm picturing. I just can't see Lego having that many pieces available for orders of single pieces. - but I hope this is not the case. Quote

It's probably just an online pick-a-brick, using leftover pieces, trying to make some extra profit. If the claim that TLC will only be offering pieces from the past 5 years is true, then there is no way this could happen... bricklink is here to stay... like any local Flea Market, but just for LEGO... :-D Life is Good. I can't see that happening. Even if they do sell all pieces dating back to the past 5 years its going to free things up on the second hand market a little bit. Quote
snefroe Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 much depends on: 1) price of every piece 2) posting and handling costs 3) total time of transaction it's hard to imagine that lego will be able to compete with bricklink shops... i'd also like to see the list of parts, but as many others, i think it's going to be quite limited. it sounds to me that they're just trying to get rid of stock here's another problem: people from Belug bought parts directly from lego a while back and there were many mistakes in what they all received. some got the correct part but in a wrong color, others didn't get the number of pieces they asked for... they were really sloppy... i also don't see any news about this on lego.com, even tho it's less than a month away... You think this has anything to do with the many new colors TLC has added in the past few years :D ? I find a certain sense of irony in that... ;) Life is Good. Quote

snefroe Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 no... belug is the belgian website for legofans, like the other national websites. they've got a topic in their forum called "bulk orders" which is basically a question from one person to the other members if they're interested in buying parts directly from lego. all communication on this subject between members is posted on that forum... it's in dutch, so you won't be able to read it anyway Quote

Piece price, Lego would probably be a little more expensive than Bricklink, but not necessarily excessively so. Posting and handeling I think would be competing with bricklink, if not better. Total time would HAVE to be better than bricklink. Whenever I order something from lego, using the longest method of shipping, it takes two days to get to me. When I ordered the chess set, and got the e-mail that it had been shipped, I received it in the mail the NEXT DAY. They're always great with that. But like I said, they're probably getting rid of stock, this isn't anything to get TOO excited over. Except maybe this will cause the prices on Bricklink to go down a bit ;) Quote

Almost twice the price and that's NOT including postage (which is A$30-A$70)! Completely ridiculous! The exchange rate doesn't fluctuate that much!!! Quote
