TeamThrifty Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 Hi all... while i await the delivery of my planetary hubs from lego i want to start roughly building an axle for a new project... i'm wondering how close the claas hubs are in dimensions to act as a place holder. If i put ball pins in the top and bottom pivots, are they the same spacings as the planetary balls? and are the mounting points for the steering arms the same width and offset (i know they're in line with the axle on the plantaries, and 1l down on the class, but thats easily accommodated), the width and the offset back from the pivot point is the important dimension.. And perhaps also how far out from the pivot the 3-pin wheel mount is compared to the claas hubs.... if anyone has that info, it would be very much appreciated. Lego is on a long leadtime at the minute and i have the urge to build! (and no, i don't do electronic 'building', only real bricks for me!) Quote
JintaiZ Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 @TeamThrifty, a picture would be useful for me to help. Thanks Quote
SNIPE Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 (edited) Here you go: The ball is moved up 1L because theres no parts that have a ball which do not get obstructed by the new female CV joint :/ unless you start going into weird parts/building its probably best to use these wheel hubs with the old male CV joint for now. though the mounting holes are 1L lower you can still kinda get around that.
