BerndDasBrot Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 nice! (to be honest: at first I thought you meant "russians" ) Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted May 25, 2008 Eurobricks Emperor Posted May 25, 2008 This is wonderful. It must be the biggest Prussian army existing in Lego format. It's this kind of threads that keep me coming again and again to look at these pictures. Keep building armies General Fordo! I love them!!! Quote
Asuka Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 A marvelous work, impressive and charming. You really did a great job with all these uniforms, they all look very nice.... perhaps your troops could need a little more variation with their faces, though. Quote
Fordo Posted May 25, 2008 Author Posted May 25, 2008 (edited) Thanks Bonaparte, Your armies keep me coming back here and are the reason I joined. Thanks Asuka, the reason I don't have that much variation (Only my Prussian Jaegers and Musketeer's have all different heads) is becuase I don't have enough different ones and the regular smilies and Rascus faces were cheap and at a store I was already ordering from. By this time next year I hope to have Prussian artillery and Calvary along with the beginnings of a Russian army. (may take a while for more infantry due to the cost and availability of shakos :( hopefully one of the custom lego venues makes Shakos so I can buy hundreds). Edited May 25, 2008 by Fordo Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 26, 2008 Governor Posted May 26, 2008 These armies look pretty good! I think the thread could benefit with a resized picture or two in the first post though. Quote
Fordo Posted May 26, 2008 Author Posted May 26, 2008 I edited the first post and added Thumbnails, and I also forgot to mention for those who didn't know that these decals were made by Mosana so credit to him for these great decals. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 26, 2008 Governor Posted May 26, 2008 What's happened to Mosana lately - we haven't heard from him in a while? Quote
Fordo Posted May 26, 2008 Author Posted May 26, 2008 Yea I haven't seen him on in a while, must be decal'ed out after his amazing amount of great decals he created. Hopefully he'll come back soon and lend his history experience to the forum. Quote
woody64 Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 (edited) I like it, i like it. I still was waiting for a new thread dealing with a new set of Napoleonic minifigs. Recently I did an update of my gallery based on Knoetels paintings dealing with prussian forces. Most of them are based on original decals from Mosana. http://lego-minifig-generator.mac-au.eu/pn...goKnoetel4.html If you take a look on the originals you will also find some forces which can be build upon the train or police officers hats which are easily available. Maybe you can ramp up your forces with these guys since these hats are easily available .,... If decals ared needed I will support you ... I added some troops to the austrians but according to Knoetel they were part of Luetzow's Freikorps (big advantage: top hats are ok) Andreas Edited May 26, 2008 by woody64 Quote
Fordo Posted May 26, 2008 Author Posted May 26, 2008 I Like all the Austrian troops you got there they look great, if I do get some police caps I'd probably use them for a conscripted landwehr (militia) that can be used as the bulk of my force. I would need to make an order for muskets and epaulettes as well. Quote

Fordo Posted May 26, 2008 Author Posted May 26, 2008 Yea I've just printed out a sheet of those decals, but while looking through my stuff I've only got 8 of those black hats. I could probably use two black Kepi's for two officers and have a squad of ten. Or I could use another color of that same helmet for the officers. Quote

In case of Landwehr regiments the common behavior also was to use private cloth or hat pieces. So in that case mayb you can also use top hats or bicornes for the officers. Here's another picture of a complete group. (Interested should take a look on the gallery, since it contains very interesting examples of army groups in a fantastic painting quality) Edited May 26, 2008 by woody64 Quote
Fordo Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 I've added a Prussian Landwehr battalion in the main post at the top. I didnt have any epaulettes on hand so they'll have to do for now. I'll eventually add more and update them. Quote

Fordo Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 (edited) I'd be more like a fence sitter having troops on both sides and not favoring one over the other. On another note cutting out a massive sheet of decals is so tedious I wish there was a quicker way. Edited May 28, 2008 by Fordo Quote

On another note cutting out a massive sheet of decals is so tedious I wish there was a quicker way. I like to see your army growing, maybe this sheet I made a year ago may also help. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/woody64/...es/prussian.pdf Especially the cavalry based on http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Mosana/T...eonic/jena4.png is very interesting since it uses bicornes which are available as mass ... Concerning decals I use photo paper for printing which is a little bit easier to cut then normal paper (to my point of view). Somebody mentioned in another thread to coulour the edges of the paper with a marker to avoid this nasty white stripes. Andreas Edited June 1, 2008 by woody64 Quote
Fordo Posted June 1, 2008 Author Posted June 1, 2008 Are you a mind-reader? Becuase earlier today I printed out almost the exact same decals to use for Calvary and other troops. Currently I have about ten black horses but no saddles. I'm also doing a small Artillery division with the three extra cannons I have right now. Quote
