ukbajadave Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Hi all, I'm trying to make a steered driven suspended axle to go at both ends of a 4wd 4ws chassis. I've come up with this and was wondering the best way to connect it to a servo for steering. Top arm. Bottom arm. Is a long steering rack and 6L link arms going to give me Ackermann steering? How best to go about it? Right now I'm at the very start of the build so everything can be altered if you can see any improvements. All help gratefully received Quote
Touc4nx Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Using these arms, you are likely to have some problems, as your arms are 7L and the driveshaft is 6L. And if you use 6L link, you will have bomb steer, as your link won't be the same size as your arms. and to add the servo, I recommend you to have the drive coming from the front of the axle, and the steering rack on the back of the axle (talking about front axle, for the Rear one, it's the opposite.) amorti Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Agree with @Touc4nx. The 7L wishbones are going to be a problem. Better if you make them 6L instead, a lot of problems melt away. Quote
Leonardo da Bricki Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 I would suggest that you take at the Axle Collection Thread that exists in this forum for this exact reason. Quote
