SirNadroj Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Possible Spoilers: After watching Indy IV, I couldn't live with white skeletons. So I'm working on casting some crystal skeletons. This is very preliminary. I'm refining the mold now ~ I'll keep you posted when I get them more exact. Mold: Rough Prototype Casting: Feedback and suggestions are apprecaited! =-) Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 I think it looks very well compared to the official version, but it seems the material you used doesn't work for the arms... I'm already looking forward to the final version! Quote
Matn Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Wow. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I do understand the skelletons are suposed to be 'fully crystal'. You are doing it very well! Which material are you using? How? Quote
Shadows Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 This looks very promising! I imagine the clear material is harder to work with, but you got some really decent results there. I'd like to see that concept applied to a standard lego torso, just to see if they've been telling the truth all these years when they said they couldn't make trans-figures. I've always wanted to try casting and molding something, but at this point never have. If it all works out, maybe you could post an illustrated tutorial of some sort? I know I'd be fascinated, and I'm sure a lot of others would as well. Quote
Armothe Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Say, that's actually looking pretty good. Casting is a difficult medium to master and from what I understand fairly expensive as far as materials are concerned. Glad to see another person able to get of to a great start. -A Quote
Squeaker Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Cool! I'd love to know what type of plastic you used. I think they can't make trans minifigs because the plastic they use for trans parts is more brittle than ABS so the snap-in arms might crack. Correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe I'm just going crazy! A kit, which I have bought, cost some $80, and included a pound of silicon, bottle A and B of resin, and some extra stuff in there. It's certainly fun to do! ___ This is a great idea Sir Nadroj! I hope it goes well!! Quote
Asuka Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 A marvelous work.... I really wish TLC would make them clear too, it just looks so beautiful...! Quote
Dragonator Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Those look great SirNadroj, keep up the effort! I too wish TLC had made these in Trans-clear as well, the white skellies just don't look the same... Quote
