Rudivdk Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 (edited) From the moment @agrof presented his TC18 Hod Rodster I was a fan of it. I had the little bad boy standing on my desk until about a week ago. But every time I looked at it I heard a little voice in the back of my head saying: what if... it wasn't a pullback... and the engine was connected to the rear wheels... and it had actual steering... it would be even better... So I did the only thing I could: I took it apart and redesigned it to feature traditional drive and steering. The exterior is a straight up copy from the original with some added details here and there, the inner works are my own design. Instructions available on Rebrickable. A video is on the way, should be done in a few days. PS: A ride this cool deserves it's own transportation: Coming soon: 'Dirt' small pick-up truck with car trailer. Stay safe... and stay tuned... Cheers! Edited July 14, 2020 by Rudivdk Instructions link added Quote
agrof Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 (edited) This overhaul is too cool, for not to build a second one! Love it! The truck looks also badass in this color combo. Edited July 14, 2020 by agrof Quote
Jundis Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 Great little thing! And such an efficient build, every piece has been used intentionally and not a single one withouth purpose like a real rod. The steering and drivetrain interchanging looks great :-) Do the balloon tires fit on the truck? Quote

The steering and drivetrain interchanging looks great :-) Do the balloon tires fit on the truck? The original design from Agrof was already so clean and smart, that I felt it deserved more than a pullback motor and handcranked engine. The space was small (in essence, only the size of the pullbackmotor to work with), so I had to come up with a smart solution as well, hence the crossover. The only exterior concession is the trackwidth of the front axle, I had to increase it 1 stud (0,5 left and 0,5 right) to make the steering hubs fit properly in between. Yes, the balloons fit the truck as well (a little rubbing on maximum articulation, but I accept that in this scale). I have a few final tweaks to make to the truck and trailer (and do the vid and instructions for the rodster), I will post a new thread for the truck towards the end of the week I hope. Thirdwigg Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 Well done. I loved @agrof's little roadster, and this change is a nice little addition. The packaging in the rear behind the seats is well done. Great job. Quote

Anyway, this is a much simpler build than your hotrod, this has no suspension at all so it can be much more compact and sleek. Still it is a fun model to roll around, and my kids love it for its racy looks, they prefer it over the pickup truck Quote
