adde51 Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 (edited) As a result of the newly established trade-routes from Mophet to the Arkbri river and the settlement that had sprouted up as a result, relationships between Mophet and Barqa had been strengthened. More and more people had been able to find work and it wasn't unusual to see caravans, both large and small, travel along the river. Two of the merchants on a journey this day were Jam'al and Al-Kuhul. They made a living transporting grains and spices from Mophet to the port for further transport. Jamal was the more responsible of the two, while Al-Kuhul always seemed to spend his earnings on some of the fine wine that Barqa supplied... So this was another experimentation with water, figured it would be fun to show a bit more of the famous Arkbri river. Hope you like it, thanks for looking! Edited May 19, 2020 by adde51 Quote
Henjin_Quilones Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 I love the river, and the cutaway bank is perfect. I am super impressed with the variations in the water color, which makes it look that much more authentic, like a real body of water with different depths. Not sure I’d want to be walking on a path right above that overhang, but you nailed the look. As usual, the foliage is excellent, and love the whip tree. Quote

Tried a few different looks for the riverbank and got some good feedback from @Gideon among others. Glad you liked it! Quote
Gideon Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 The build turned out very well! My favorite details are the tree and the way you have put some critters living in the riverbank @Henjin_Quilones There is more of that kind of water in store from #swedishlegomafia Quote
zoth33 Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 The river looks great with the shading. The river embankment is excellent, the upper shelf of the embankment is very nice. I like the different vegetation throughout the build, especially the way you have the lush vegetation by the water and the dry vegetation in the desert part. The tree looks great with the whips around it, is that meant to be a vine around the tree? The camels carrying the loads is great too. Quote
Kai NRG Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Beautiful job with the water! That tree is also nicely done, and as I mentioned on Instagram, the bank is really cool - though rather dangerous looking! Quote

Yup, more water is coming (even from us sand-folks...) On 5/18/2020 at 12:03 AM, zoth33 said: The river looks great with the shading. Glad you noticed the difference in vegetation as that was something I tried to illustrate. The trunk of the lasso-tree is just meant to have some structure, but I guess vines sort of makes sense given the look 23 hours ago, Kai NRG said: Beautiful job with the water! Haha, you know how the desert people love them some danger Quote
Aurore Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 What a lovely scene! The water looks very nice, and I really enjoy the variety of the vegetation - as already noted, the whip tree is especialy great. I also love the flamingo and little critters (the Kaliphlini cousins of the terrible mitgardian shrew! ) hiding in the banks. Quote
The Stad Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 I'll have to echo the praises of those who posted before me, this is wonderful. The only critique I could add is that your river makes a very sharp turn as it flows into the main channel. Otherwise, everything is beautifully done. Another terrific build! Quote
mrcp6d Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 I quite like the erosion effect you've created in the taller river bank. Like The Stad above though, the 90 degree angle of the river isn't so successful. Water is great with the subtle but noticeable color change. Quote
Grover Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 This is a fantastic river scene. You really hit the water depth well, and I love the banks of the river, how you can see the way the water has cut it down. There is a spot exactly like this on a river near where I grew up that has a bizzare 90° turn, so I don't find it unbelievable at all. The leaves on the whip tree are great, too, and I like the consistency between the builds you have for vegetation. Great job! Quote

As usual! I like that this portray a other part of Kali other than sand and stones. Quote
