doug72 Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 (edited) Is there a difference between a EV 3 Servo Motor 45503 & a EV3 medium motor 99455 ? If so which is best for runng a GBC module ? Edited May 10, 2020 by Doug72 Quote
dr_spock Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 That would be like Power Functions XL-motor vs a PF M-motor. 45502 is larger and has more torque. 45503/99455 is smaller and has less torque. Which one is best would depend on the specific application requirements. I have used a 99455 to run a GBC display with an EV3 as a stupidly expensive start button for kids to press. Quote

Thanks for your reply, the LEGO on line shop has two versions listed for EV3 MEDIUM motors. i.e. a Medium EV3 servo motor 45502 and a Medium motor 99455 I have just ordered from Lego a Medium EV3 servo motor, 45502 and the invoice says it is Ver. 6. The GBC train module I have been building uses PF componants with a PF M motor to drive it, works OK on manual control OK but unable to work out reverser timing timing to syncronise the required movements. Hence I will use EV3 to control instead. It will use the same train reverser from my Gantry Crane GBC EV3 train module but the main drive will use EV3 medium servo motor. There is not enough room to use the Large Servo EC3 motor without a total re-build. Quote
Coder Shah Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Could not find 99455 at mindstorms.lego.com. The only ones I can see are the following: Medium motor https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/ev3-medium-servo-motor-45503 Large motor https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/ev3-large-servo-motor-45502 The large motor is more powerful, the medium motor is easier to integrate into a build. doug72 Posted May 10, 2020 Author Posted May 10, 2020 (edited) Found this on Brfickowl. I think the different numbers refer to motors when in a set & individually. Edited May 10, 2020 by Doug72 Quote
doug72 Posted May 13, 2020 Author Posted May 13, 2020 Lego Medium EV3 motor arrived from Lego Belgium in 3 days from ordering on line. Tested and fits in intended space and has enough power to run a GBC Train module with 30 balls per trip. Now to add Train reverser unit and program the movements required to load & transfer balls to the train unit. Quote
Lok24 Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Hi, 99455 is the LEGO Design ID, 45503 is the set containing only one part: 99455 Quote
