Hi everyone!

I've had my European 12v train set in storage for a couple decades and decided to break them out.  I don't have any pictures of my original layout, so I'm starting from scratch, but I do have a 4'x8' surface on which to build.  The problem is that I'm not feeling very creative and I'm struggling with a track layout that doesn't look boring.

So far, I've come up with this.  As you can see, I'm going to have to cut some tracks in half to make it all fit, but my concern is mostly that it looks boring.

So I was hoping some of you could post pictures of your 12v tracks for inspiration.

Welcome on board! Great to see some more 12v stuff appearing, I have some old layout and on my computer that we’re on an 8 by 4 space, I’ll dig them out later and share them. With all those points/switches you could probably have a couple of running loops so that trains pass each other in opposite directions.

As promised, here are a couple of older drafts. I built the one on the right, it was the bottom layer of a 3 level layout to make the most of the 8x4 space I had at the time.

If you haven't found it, Bluebrick is a great piece of software for designing layouts, I've been using it for years. (Thanks @Alban Nanty)

This is the first layout that came to my mind, it can be tightened or shortened.

It allows you to run 3 trains simultaneously and have 2 parked. Switch points are 4 right and 4 left. The intersection gives some movement to the layout.

You can put the double level crossing on the south side and a single level crossing inside to reach the inner part of the circuit.

Thanks, that gives me some ideas.  I don't think that big layout will fit in a 4x8, but I think I can modify it.  It didn't occur to me to use the crossing at an angle.
