So, here's the thing about Gigor: I didn't love it. Not the planet - it's surprisingly pleasant for an ice world - but the location. And the job. By the stars it was a scuzzy job.
Just before Endor, local administrators were trialling some experimental weapons on Gigor. When the bureaucracy gave out, support for the project ended.
So, when the Triumvirate was sifting through the rubble of Scarif, looking for promising projects, this one caught their eye.
It's common knowledge now, but back then, the idea of a tractor beam that could drag a ship out of hyperspace without shredding it to pieces was pure fantasy. You can imagine my suprise when they slapped the folder in my chest and put my backside on a shuttle.
See, Gigor is on a route parallel to the Hydian Way. Means that anyone who wants to move around that (somewhat free-wheeling) corner of the galaxy, but wants to avoid the scrutiny of the major hyperspace lanes, will go past.
And since we had the equivalent of a hyperspace dragnet set up, anyone we caught likely had something to hide.
My job was to smooth the process and turn our hostages into negotiators. As diplomatically as possible. And that's how I paid for my mistakes on Rishi.

Glaciers of Gigor

I know I complain a lot about it. But the fact is, the hyperspace dragnet was in it's pilot phase - not the sort of project that a senior diplomat should have been wasting his time with.
You could tell it was a pilot scheme because they hadn't even bothered to equip us with proper aerial support for the search and rescue. Instead we had some ugly X-Wing/TIE Fighter cross-breeds. Supposedly they would provide the outline of the old Rebel X-wings, with a cockpit that an academy-trained pilot would be familiar with.
In reality, they were clunky old mules, with far too many guns, and not enough detection equipment. Hell, they couldn't even break atmo. Which was a problem, because sooner or later, something was bound to go wrong, and we would need to chase an escaping ship. And we couldn't.

TIE X

Told the planetary administrator about it. He wasn't interested. Told the research directorate. They noted it in my file. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise, that.

Bot rewrote my text, to replace a** with "megablocks". Kinda funny, but it didn't scan so well.

This is super cool - A very original take on a TIE. The double-decker wings are a nice touch... Would have been nice with a few more details in the landscape. I'm a sucker for clever props, boxes, antennae arrays, consoles etc.

Keep up the good work...
