That sounds unnecessary - the PUP controller allows you to turn the controller knobs around, doesn’t it? So you can just turn one upside down and keep the mechanism as depicted.

Sure, that's the idea. And it works fine for  me.

Yes. But here is a first idea to resolve this by using the two knobs in the middle

The 1x8 plate belogs between the knobs to control the two stop buttons.

It's not yet finished, just an idea  .... please feel free to improve ....

Clever.  :classic:

I visited my local Lego store and they do not carry the Power Up Color sensor 88007.  The clerk said I have to order on line at S@H.  That was disappointing.  They had motor and battery boxes thou.

@LegoDW That is not new, the stores had and have only  a small number of electronical parts, EV3, PF, PU.

I always order via S@H or check availability in store via phone.

So you got a solution, what does it mean "doesn't fit train model"?

I have a program here that uses the slider and can control up to 4 engines.

Sorry for the delay. What I meant was that the sliders don't have a "sticky" option -- if you don't keep a finger on the slider, it will return to zero.

My relatively simple solution was to just use the sound buttons as virtual +/- buttons for train speed.

Please see this recent post for a comprehensive guide of how to make the sliders sticky and control up to 4 trains together or individually with PUP 3.0, including lights!

You can create a double motor control with the Powered UP app if so inclined.  The speed is controlled by tilting your phone or tablet.  It provides -100 to 100 based on your phone's/tablet's incline.  Stop can be obtained by pressing the stop program button on the upper right part of the screen.  (Not shown here.)

hi there, this is a great diagram, thanks for sharing. do you know how to put one of these together for simple touch acceleration/deceleration or other method? not sure which tile would be the best. but same scenario of putting two engines/two hubs in one long train connected running in opposite directions.

In the example shown above the two motors are connected to the same hub Port A und B. This cannot be used for trains as the cable is not long enough.
The way to go is to use the "Controller" within the Powered Up App and code like that:

Controller.jpg

Left: Hub 1 Port A, Slider 1, Right: Hub 2, Port A, Slider 1 * -1

LEDs in the same way.

understood. can you apply this "code" to one of the trains that is on the app? say the blue passenger train. so that when using the controls on that blue train, this code is applied in the background?

No, as I wrote, you have to use the "Controller" function under "create".
There are two modes of the app: "play" (the fixed prog for a specific set) and "create"

You find my prog or the one of Racing Bricks above.

is the slider the only way to operate? assume once i take my hand off of it, it stops. can you set values or do this another way? or is that going back to just using the physical controller?

With my program you don't set the speed but the acceleration.
All values are set in the program, such as acceleration, vmax, start power etc.
But yes, you can use the physical controller as well (with a different programm, not with the "Controller" part of the app).

so the one you posted (image below) would at least get me going. i'll have to look into further programming as I think i would like to just set the speed and let it go.
