jlassen Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 Does anybody else spend an unreasonably long time trying to cram functional staircases into too small of a space? After finishing off my Goblin Market, I'm busy converting Raganas's Shadow Castle into a Town Hall Modular knock off. I can't wait to put the dragon head tower on top of this, where the clock tower was in the Town Hall. :) My Goal was to replicate ground floor facade of the castle. I ended up making the castle doors double wide. This was an early start that I abandoned, but recently picked up, which lead to the above staircase madness. Quote
Maple Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 Loving it so far. I always give credit for using different colors. I had a bathroom once that was black, white and a pink purple color similar to the stairs. Do the doors open? Quote
jlassen Posted January 22, 2020 Author Posted January 22, 2020 Just now, Maple said: Loving it so far. I always give credit for using different colors. The main gates are based on the design in the original... they had a special feature that moved a pathway forward and backward as the doors opened. I kept the interior hinge design, and just made the doors wider while getting rid of the moving floor. (Though at one point I had the design flipped with the right door's hinges on the outside, and not able to open. The rod iron grate/door on the right is reminiscent of the dungeon cell door of the original kit, and it too opens. Here's the door detail. Quote
jlassen Posted January 23, 2020 Author Posted January 23, 2020 (edited) I've worked on some front landscaping... I kinda like how this looks on the left... Edited February 17, 2020 by jlassen photo link not working Quote
jlassen Posted January 28, 2020 Author Posted January 28, 2020 (edited) coming along nicely... (though studIO doesn't model the double wave horn parts from the original set. :( I have to start making some hard choices about interior and third floor rear windows. But i like my little jail cell, and I feel the split level balcony at the stariway landing came out nicely. Edited February 17, 2020 by jlassen fix links to pics Quote
jlassen Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 New rule. Don't work on any stairwells until the front facade is definitely done. Ground floor needed a new level. This is looking a little better now.... Quote
jlassen Posted February 17, 2020 Author Posted February 17, 2020 (edited) Okay. I'm pretty happy with my end results. And "Shadow Goblin Lane" Modular street is coming along nicely... Next step is to maybe create an assembly hall that has the three different buildings inspired by an "Elves" set? LIke healing hideaway or the Elves Bakery? we will see... Vindicare Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 Looks great. Purple is an odd color for sure, but given the details you put in, it works extremely well. I love that top level with the columns & windows. It really sticks out. Quote
