Have fans seen that they’re making the piece ( 65227pb01 ) that came in the Hidden Side Castle set ( the apparating / flying piece .. and yeah I know there was a whole debate about this which hopefully won’t happen again ) but they’re introducing the piece in another colour .. a trans green darkish colour .. think it’s coming in a Spider-Man set with Mysterio ? ?

I think the possibility of that piece being reused for Death Eaters / Voldy is definitely on the table. After all, it's not a licensed piece, so there are no issues when it comes to repurposing it for other themes. It'd just be perfect for the smoke effect as seen in the films, no matter how you feel about its canonicity :excited:

I know I’m in the minority, but I just don’t really have any interest in Ninjago. I’ve never gotten a single set from that theme. Granted I think the parts usage and minifigs as well as the overall designs are very cool and if I got a few I would probably be hooked, which is why I probably shouldn’t try. I’m pretty much just into the licensed stuff. Although if Lord Of The Rings is ever brought back, I might even give up Harry Potter

As far as buying goes, my interest in Ninjago is fairly low. Before the Movie, which I went nuts with, the only sets I bought are the first year dragon sets...and then a few of the Digital wave. Ninjago Gardens is supposedly going to fit with the City & Docks sets so that’s why I’m excited for it & I hope the build, other than the water, fits in with those sets aesthetic.

It would be tough if LotR came back for sure. I love both themes/franchises a lot.

I was hooked on the Elves theme when I finally got back into Lego but it ended the next year and I never got some of the early sets.  I have a lot of the original SW sets and don't feel the need to keep up with the current sets although there are a few I'm interested in.  Every time I buy any new SW sets I end up wondering why I bother.  I only got about 1/2 of the Hidden Side sets and some of those I held out for decent discounts on.  Never got into Ninjago but they do seem to introduce some interesting pieces in those sets so I content myself with getting parts I want through BnP.  I've bought all the HP since 2018 reboot except the Microscale Castle but am still working on acquiring the latest releases.  I also go for some of the Modulars, Creator & Ideas sets as well as some Disney and an occasional Friends or City set.

That'd be awesome, but I highly doubt it. If the rumours are anything to go by, the Amazon series will (sadly) try to appeal to the GoT crowd, which doesn't bode well for a potential tie-in

What rumours? I've seen nothinf along those lines at all.

Not to get off-topic too far, but there allegedly has been a consultant on set usually required for explicit scenes, if you catch my drift. Could be unfounded though, at least that’s what I hope :shrug_oh_well: The last thing I need to see are nude elves (or dwarves) doing it

If they butcher it I will weep. Hope they keep politics out too, just honor Tolkien and don’t make statements, please just stay true to his vision. It could either be a masterpiece or a total flop. Anyway, back to topic I suppose, sorry for the addition to the rabbit trail

Well, LOTR has a distinct anti-war message, which should be kept I think  Messages are fine with me, just don’t turn it into a second GoT...

Anyway, back to topic: Which minifig are you hoping to see getting leaked next? I hope for Sprout as I’m really curious how it differs from the CMF minifig. Her second costume from CoS would be a nice variant

Oh, the intimacy coordinator? Nothing to worry about in itself, they'll probably be required for any scenes with only kissing in future in most productions. It's an important step after the Me 2 movement and has the added bonus of having actors more relaxed and happy in intimate scenes, so fewer awkward sex scenes etc going forward hopefully! Good to see Amazon is doing the right thing hiring one (not to say how good the final product will bet though!) as anyone who has seen a show like Normal People or I May Destroy You  can see the quality acting in intimate scenes.

Sprout is intriguing, would be interested in Snape if he even just has a new face print!

Depp to be recast as Grindelwald.

BBC News - Johnny Depp leaves Fantastic Beasts franchise
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-54846285

Dang. What happened to Depp is tragic, and it's awful that Warner Bros. has now forced him to resign from the series, even though he's the victim. I'll be honest, I didn't care much for his performance in the FB movies, but he doesn't deserve this.

That being said, I'm curious as to who will play Grindelwald going forward, presuming FB3 ever actually, y'know, comes out.

Good to know

Bad to know :sceptic:

The film has also been pushed back to summer 2022. So if the set list is shorter the next time we see it, we know why

@Modal - Like Vindicare said there might be more follow ups coming up, so you might want to keep it for now. That said, if you're sure you don't want it, sell it.

Removing Depp is certainly an interesting choice especially considering the controversies around him have been overshadowed. What does it mean for LEGO? Not much. They probably would have needed to make a new face print for Grindewald anyway since the original was missing the mustache (if I'm remembering the situation correctly).

I completely forgot about Fantastic Beasts when I was looking at the price list. Hopefully a few of those sets are from Fantastic beasts so I won't need to get them. The summer 2020 wave is ridiculously expensive and with the extra winter wave and with 2020 being a more expensive year I think LEGO HP may be spreading itself a bit too thin.

The focus next year should be on DH with a few of sets to fill in some gaps. 2021 is probably the last year that LEGO HP will be interesting. After that it will likely go the way of Star Wars with many sets being remakes with minor improvements and exclusive figures to entice collectors and a few interesting new sets, with most of the line being focused on the more marketable and nostalgic films.

I think they'll have Colin Farrell reprise the role. The Lego face print may not necessarily change as the new Grindelwald will look similar to the Depp version.

Words can't describe how furious I am at WB for the way they've handled this whole thing. This is a LEGO thread though and I don't want to flood this place with a giant political rant

The only actor I would accept for a new Grindelwald is Collin Farrell, if they don't get him I must say I don't feel like caring about the FB films any longer.

Gotta go cool my head now, I'm pissed :damn:

@Guyon2002: Why does your interest in FB depend on Depp or Farrell being involved? Not judging, just curious :purrr:

To me, Depp is not irreplaceable. His version never really felt like the same character to me that we’ve seen in DH, albeit briefly (especially his heterochromia, which magically appeared in the 20s and then disappeared before DH?)

Because Grindelwald was (at least in my opinion) the best thing about CoG and Depp played him very well. Farrell was also great in the role (he was technically playing Grindelwald as well ofc) and I personally just don't think anyone else will be able to pull it off like those 2 did. But that's just my opinion of course :def_shrug: It's no secret that the Fantastic Beasts films aren't the best movies out there and they would've been a lot worse without Depp and Farrell.

Not a fan of the second film or Depp in it. Hopefully recasting him might reinvigorate the next movie and hope they cast someone who has chemistry with Dumbledore, a bit like the chemistry between professor x and magneto, friends and enemies at the same time.

I saw a Collider article that speculates the actors who could replace Depp. Aside from Colin Farrell (the obvious choice), I think RDJ could be an unexpected but extremely interesting choice for Grindelwald. He also has great on-screen chemistry with Jude Law based on their performances in the Sherlock Holmes series. No matter who plays Grindelwald, I just hope Lego makes more sets this time than the previous two films.

RDJ as Grindelwald? God no

The planets are lining up for Collin Farrell to take the role that should had been his from the beggining. It has to be him.

But they are probably going with Grindelwald "dying" while performing a very dark spell and transfering his soul to a different vessel/body

Whatever they do with Grindewald it won't work regardless of who's playing him since his redemption in the deathly hallows was removed from the films.

BOT Do people even want more Fantastic Beasts sets? I watched both films the day they were released and haven't rewatched them since so my memory probably isn't the best but I can't really remember anything that would make an interesting set, aside from what we already have and maybe the ministry battle from the end of the second film (although I'm sure 90% of consumers would prefer a ministry battle set from OOTP). Actually maybe we didn't get a ministry set this year because they were planing a COG ministry set?

Does anyone have any ideas for FB based sets based on the existing movies? Perhaps I'm missing something but I really can't think of much that would work as a LEGO set.

Here are some potential set ideas for CoG I could think of:

- Matagots Chase

Build: French MoM with a couple of revolving bookcases / Figures: Newt, Tina, Leta and the s2ecretary / Beasts: Zouwu (brickbuilt) and 2 or 3 Matagots

- Circus Arcanus

Build: small circus tent with cages and fire functions / Figures: Tina, Kama, Skender, Credence, Nagini (figure) / Beasts: Nagini (snake) and maybe a Graphorn (brickbuilt)

- Lestrange Mausoleum Battle

Build: part of the Mausoleum with exploding functions / Figures: Newt, Theseus, Nicolas Flamel, Grindelwald, Rosier / Beasts: Niffler and Protego Diabolica dragon (brickbuilt)

- Newt's Basement

Build: the big staircase inside Newt's basement with a bunch of living spaces for beasts / Figures: Newt, Bunty / Beasts: 4 baby Nifflers, Kelpie (brickbuilt), Augurey (brickbuilt), Leucrotta (brickbuilt) and 2 or 3 Mooncalves (large selection of beasts to even out the low amount of figs)
