Wierdness at Canada S@H

Today I saw TONS of new stuff on S@H, but the pricing is bizarre

First, I saw the new Technic stuff, including hte giant crane (8421) and the forklift (8416). It was 25% off!!

Also, new bionicles, including Roodaka, Siddorak, Keetongu. All on sale 33% off.

So, I bought a bunch. WOOT!!!

3 hours later, all are gone from the sales and deals, but can still be bought at full price. So, what was that? a 3 hour sale?

Now, I see all the Dino sets, a bunch of the little cars, also on sale. 30% off on the big one (T1 typhoon, 7477) , 33% off on the second biggest one (Iron predator, 7476).

WTF?

Not that I really wanted the Dino sets, but at 30% off it's almost tempting.

These are all brand new sets. Why are they going on sale already?

Any ideas?

It sounds very weird. I wonder what's going on. But, Hey it's always good with some cheap LEGO sets ;)

Hey, I'm not complaining ;)

Just wondering if it's a mistake, or a marketing ploy to hype up the new products (like they way they released two of each big KK and technic set 1-2 months in select cities before the general release).

I troll the S@H multiple times a day, not because I really expect to find anything new, just to relax for a few minutes.

When new items come on sale its a few seconds of adrenaline until I see what they are, and usually I have a letdown as they put yet another clickit item on sale, or Bionicle shoes.

Today though...... holy mackarel. I went insane for 10 minutes. Biggest S@H purchase I ever made. Funny, just 1 month ago I almost paid 340$ to some guy for the 8421 crane that I was so desperate to get, today I bought two of them combined for less than that, and don't even have to go the store. Awesome.

What now? Only Vikings left to wait for in Canada. All else is here that I care about more or less.

Phew, I thought I was alone: I'm doing the same thing for the same reason :$

I do "window shopping", though: I fill up my basket and then leave it at that. Just to have the "feeling" of spending tons of money on LEGO ;)

OK, update 2 hours later.

All the new sets are now totally gone from "Sales and Deals". Still available at regular price.

I'll bet it was a mistake.

If so, I hope they honor the stuff I bought at the discount. |-/

EDIT:

Reflecting on this, I believe that when the listed the items in Canadian dollars, they used the US$ amount instead, since every "discount" was exactly at the US$ price. Even the Toa Ur-a-weenie I got for 8.99.

I had placed the technic crane in my cart the other day at the sale price. Once I read this post I went back to S@H and decided to checkout. The crane went through with the sale price so we will see what happens.

I recently entered a catalog code I found on the internet and was able to get the sandcrawler for $139 canadian (saving $60C) and the death star for $299 canadian (saving $100C). When I called S@H to add these items to a current backorder (to save shipping) the operator was a little confused. I later found out that they would honor these prices for me but a mistake was made and the code I entered was for US sale prices only. Almost immediately the code was revised and no longer included these items. I got mine though.

An update on Lego's inadvertant sale.... I did end up getting the Pneumatic Crane truck for 150 Canadian, forklift for 70$ Canadian, and lots of similar Candian-US dollar mistaken prices. TLC delivered last wee, and honoured the prices. HUGE purchase, biggest bargoon I ever had for primo sets, basically every new set was 33% off.

Now I'll be trolling S&H for the next 20 years trying to top or match this.
