For a long time the Corlander colonial administration in Port Woodhouse had been interested in the island located in the northern approaches to the Garma Strait known to most as Gunpowder Isle. Several Royal Navy vessels had surveyed the coastline with it's distinctive black sand; however, rumours of extremely hostile natives had kept the vessels launching any forays into the interior to verify rumours of strong veins of copper. Recently stories have filtered back to Port Woodhouse of Sea Rat and Eslandolan activity on the island and strange tales of monstrous birds and hallucinogenic bananas can be heard in taverns across the Paradise Isles... A Corrie merchantman had taken shelter in one of the islands bays recently and a shore party seeking freshwater had been attacked by natives who had only been repelled with heavy losses. All of these factors combined have caused the administration to act.

Newly promoted Major Edward Brown of the Port Woodhouse garrison has been given command of an expedition to Gunpowder Isle. A strong force of infantry will protect the engineers, civilian geologists and surveyors  of the expedition. After some time preparing, Major Brown and his force land on Gunpowder Isle.

Prospectors immediately start taking samples for further analysis in nearby Jameston. Rumours of an abundance of copper were one of the main motivations for launching the expedition, so Corrie geologists are keen to get their hands on samples taken from the isle.

Furthermore; a Martello tower fort; based on the design successfully implemented in Mooreton Bay, has been constructed to protect the anchorage and base camp for the Corlander expedition. Armed with eight powerful cannon and a fighting platform on top, it protects against both native aggression and any marauding buccaneers.

The beginning of a Corlander mining expedition (and collaboration) on Isle 16 'Gunpowder'. The second scene is a prospecting build and the fort will be the beginning of a squatting mining settlement for when/if we start mining operations.

Nice builds man and good story. I would only argue how well defendable that tower ;) The stone work in the tower is nice though as well as the vegatation in the 2nd build.

There are a couple of nice builds, the tower seems to be well defended, I just want to see how it would be look like when all guns fire at the same time. I like the all bricks built base and the greenery.

I like those built very much.

Mmmmmh there is, decidedly, too much people on this island. :sadnew: Time to leave.

Exactly what I was thinking.

I would recommand to our Corry friends to keep an eye upon the Gloogloos and watch out the Bananas ! (even if it is publicly known that the Corlander Queen is a big fan of those fruits...) :pir-grin:

The pink flower technique was shamelessly stolen/borrowed from @Legonaut

To Major Edward Brown, Gunpowder Isle

Your are hereby requested and required to make your way to Jameston with the utmost haste, there to recruit a force of Infantry to take under your command, afterwhich you will find the most expedient conveyance to Spudkirk there to assist in the defences of the settlement, and in any legitimate military operations decided upon by the officer there in charge. The recent attacks on the settlement cannot be ignored, and the threat must be countered.

For any current engagements on Gunpowder Isle, you will appoint a suitable 2nd in command to take over your responsibilities for the expedition there.

In all haste,

Rear-Admiral S. Fletcher

Commander-in-Chief, Royal Terra Novan Navy

Nice collab. The prospecting scene is nice and I really like the Martell(eg)o tower.

It would seem to me that firing all the guns at once would indicate... that the fortifications are surrounded, and it's a last gasp attempt to fight off attackers!

The Brick Seas have still some Mysteries that only time will uncover. Somehow Edwards answering Letter disappeared...

In fact Edward arrived in Jameston some months ago where he was promoted to Major and where he found some rest. He will leave Jameston on April 24th with the Infantrymen under his command which consist of Marine Infantry and Line Infantry to strengthen the defences of Spudkirk and propably for further Missions in the New Haven Sea.
