LM71Blackbird Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 (edited) 1st Quinnsville Light Dragoons and 1st Quinnsville Company of Foot (Rifleman) The next graduating classes of the Quinnsville Military Academy have just received their commissions in Her Majesty's Army. In normal fashion, the graduating class goes on parade through the town before they settle down into full military service in Her Majesty's Armed Forces. Rifleman and Dragoons 3 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr The 1st Quinnsville Light Dragoons have passed with flying colors and proudly ride upon the finest horses brought from Elizabethville, the producer of the finest horses in the Brick Seas. Rifleman_Dragoons 1 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Joining them are the crack shots of the 1st Quinnsville Company of Foot or simply, the 1st Rifleman Company. These are the best marksman that Cocovia has to offer. They are easily distinguished from the Corrington Regulars due to their green coats and dark trousers. This allows them to remain unseen until they choose to fire upon an unsuspecting enemy! Rifleman_Dragoons 2 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr ----------------------------------- Two simple builds to raise the 60 men per MRCA limit of Quinnsville. 30 Dragoons and 30 Rifleman. Also, I just really enjoy build military troops. C&C are welcome, but please keep in mind these builds are just to show the troops for licensing purposes. Bregir Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Great looking troops, LM. I seem to be spotting a few wings amongst the cavalrymen? I also quite like the riflemen. These irregular troops (as opposed to the line) always fascinated me, and I quite like your design. I think I would suggest distinguishing the officer more from his men than ange of hat colour, though. That said, this is just a showcase of troops, not a moc, and we need to see a proper build of some sort to allow licensing of troops. In this build, you do not need to show all the troops, as you have here, and these displays can be used to show the whole contingent. And it doesn't have to be a large or advanced moc, but it has to qualify as a "build". If you have already licensed the troops, no worry - just make sure to follow up with the build. If this is not clear in the rules, please point it out to me, so I can adjust it. Anyways, very nice troops and I hope and trust they will serve the Crown well! (Once licensed correctly) Quote

I wanted to try something different then just a sea of red and muskets. You would of course be correct regarding the moc. It has been some time since I bought troops, and I had a slight memory lapse on the required moc. Building late in the evening doesn't help either! Lol! I'll, update the thread in a few days to correct that. Thank you! Quote
Darnok Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 While not a "proper" MOC, this highlights one of the great upsides of LDD and the like: you can show the actual number of minifigs when it comes to things like troop formations. I don't have 30 Redcoats of any type, and I think few people have. Let alone 100 or whatnot. In LDD though? No problem! Nothing beats the sight of real minifigs in numbers, but this is a solid substitute! Quote

But alas, I prefer to eat food, not minifigures! In a few days I'll update the thread with a more substantial moc and make it official. Then Quinnsville with have 180 troops protecting the settlement! Quote
