I posted this in the general MOC forum as well, but thought it was worth while to post here, too: I recently took two BrickArms prototype bipods, removed the legs, trimmed the ends a bit, then glued them together to make a connection piece to link two items that are minifig-grippable. I call it the U-Clip!

The main reason I tried it: removable bayonet!:

Keep in mind, this is my own creation and has no bearing on future plans Will Chapman has for official BrickArms accessories.

I posted this before in your "What weapons do you want?" thread:

But they used minfig hands, which are cheaper and more common (more colours too)...

But I guess the whole concept will get more publicity here; maybe we'll even see an army with bayonets :pir-wub:

And is there really need for 2 practically identical topics? :pir-wink:

This would probably make a really useful official LEGO piece - is there not already anything like it?

No Piece that I know of...

Looks better with a Dagger :pir-tongue:

Looks like someone could easily make U-Clips out of the Monopods too.

I've liked this idea of the U-Clip.

It's just too bad that the dagger doesn't come in other colors besides silver. :pir-sceptic:

Ok, now someone make an Imperial Guard MOC with a homemade bayonet.

I wanted to make a bayonet out of resin that would fit onto a copy of the LEGO flintlock rifle (AKA I'm gonna mold it all).

The solution here is very effective and nice, But I feel, with that particular knife, it's a bit too modern for the typical long and skinny bayonet.

Some new shots:

Really, it works quite well for the TLC musket as its long, narrow barrel suits the clip, but the BrickArms M1 Garand doesn't quite work with the clip as gripable portion of the stock ends further back from the end of the barrel. However, as bayonets really weren't a factor in combat in WWII, I'm not bothered by it as much.

Although in the beginning of the war, many Germans had their bayonets attached to the Kar98K. This is of course an interesting idea, but needs to be refined. The rifle with the technic pin attached, does put stress marks on the pin, because the sight is a bit thicker than the opening in that pin...

This was my solution to the problem...

A minifig hand holding the musket with the wrist through the guard on the sword.

A pirate hook works also but hands are more plentiful.

Thank you Badger and everyone else for this great idea!

Hope it's ok with you Badger that i posted my version's pics in here. :pir-blush:

I put on the US Marine uniform again

and gave my shot at the infamous U-Clip.

u-clip1.jpg

(sorry for the blurry pic)

As you can see, the bayonet is at the end of the Garand.

I added this little rubber piece:

u-clip2.jpg

This same U-Clip w/out the rubber piece can be used on the standard Musket:

Below is a pic of me holding the 3mm rubber hose from my megablocks set, which is where i cut the small rubber piece from:

(I think i had finally found a use for all this hose that i've kept from my MB set)

No lego bricks were harmed in the creation of this U-Clip. :pir-laugh:

I have to say this is probably the best for me, because I have WAY too many hands lying around.

I'm going to use this for my extra cutlasses.
