Parrot Problem...

Hi everyone,

I've been building Café Corner recently, but I came across a strange issue regarding parrots.

I ordered 4 x 2546 in dark bluish grey from BL and all seemed fine. But when I received the parts I noticed some differences between them (see below). With some research I soon became aware of the difference between 2546 and 27062.

However, the seller had listed the parrots as 2546, and when I looked on BL I couldn't find any listings for 27062 in dbg, nor could I find any mention of the part on Brickset.

Does anybody know where this part originates from or why it isn't listed on either site?

I couldn't find any mention of the part being used on Brickset, beside the white one in a 2018 Incredibles set. (and soon 2 more white ones in a 2019 Creator 3-in-1 set)

The small beak parrot was still produced up to 2016, Brickset misses 4 sets that use the grey small beak parrot in 2014, and 2016.

The solid color large beak parrot was added in 2016 according to BrickLink , Part 27063 , so there was overlap in production unlike what Brickset says.

The Brick Bank set has 1 listed as alternate in Dark Bluish Gray.

I think it varies per set on what parrot was included, old or newer mold, maybe later sets in production use the newer mold.

Alternate Items - Parts from the Regular Items section that differ from one production run of a set to another. These are typically mold variations of parts.

Ah, thanks for your help, that makes a little more sense. I didn’t realise Brick Bank contained it as it’s not mentioned on Brickset.

I wish TLG, Brickset and Bricklink would differentiate between them a bit more clearly - I’ve just had to keep ordering 2546 until I got four of one type.

Isn't this likely an issue of the sellers not being aware/careful with parts that are SUPER similar.   Those parrots are very different, but If I had not seen the photos I would not have known there was a new mold.

If items have different molds BL will inform you of it. This will be mentoned under "Related Items:" as you can see in the lik below underneed the picture.
