Per_SW Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 Evening everyone! As you can see from the title, I have combined the two latest Mos Eisley Cantina sets in one long display piece, but first, a bit of context. I came out of my dark ages back in 2016 thanks to a wonderful girlfriend who I had just interested in Star Wars a few months prior Ep VII and the Imperial and Rebel BPs she gave me for my birthday. From then, with the Rogue One sets coming out later that year things just steamrolled out of hand and I was buying Lego again. It was also at that time I discovered this forum, Brickset and Bricklink, and it was then I got enamored with the 75052 Cantina from 2014. Fast forward to autumn 2017 and I managed to find a wonderful deal on BL for it, so I finally got it. Needless to say, when in late 2017 came the first pictures of the new 75205 Cantina I was more than satisfied with my purchase, and didn't give it a second glance, especially considering the European price. That was until in january this year I found it on a shelf at a nice 30% discount at a local store and stumbling upon this reddit thread https://old.reddit.com/r/legostarwars/comments/80xq6k/75052_and_75205_combined/. After a bit of fumbling and a couple of additions from my spare parts box, here's the result, enjoy!IMG_20190131_031320 The bar, with and without figsIMG_20190131_031350IMG_20190131_031425 Details of the (maybe flimsy) connection form the backIMG_20190131_031442 "Who parked that Ubrikkian speeder in front of the door?!"IMG_20190131_031509 Little independent addition, a couple of bounty hunters on their day off.IMG_20190131_031525 The Sandspeeder pilot happily drinking with old Ben, while Jawas are dismantling his ship for partsIMG_20190131_031550 And of course, right outside the door the local law enforcement is making sure you don't drink and drive. Remember that time Luke got so drunk he gave a lift to a Tusken raider?IMG_20190131_031610 Things are not looking good for our hero, maybe he should have just let the Tusken drive...IMG_20190131_031633 So, here it is, any feedback is always welcome, hope you liked this simple and fun MOD. And yes, the moulded dewback looks quite large compared to the brickbuilt one. Or to the building itself, in this case. Quote

It's a nice build, what with the play features and figures and speeder, but it feels a little bit small. Perhaps I'm out of touch or maybe I'm splitting hairs, but when I compare its size to other SW sets I have around, it seems more like a $35 than a $40 set to me. I suppose part of that must account for the new (and exclusive) Greedo and the printing on the sandtrooper. I know some people really care about detail & such on minifigures but I am not one of those, and wouldn't have minded had TLG supplied a regular old stormtrooper (instead of the printed version) and saved a buck on MSRP.... Vindicare Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 When I finally got around to buying the 2017 one I had looked into getting its predecessor for this very reason. It looks great. Quote

I completely agree that the 75205 on its own looks dreadfully small, especially for that price point (which at least in Italy became 49.99€ from lego S@H OR 54.99€ from the few retailers that had it), as stated before I completely overlooked it at first, having already bought the previous version. I don't know if it is because it started as an exclusive in the US, but I saw a similar problem with the last A-Wing (also 40$ to 50€, up to 60€ in some countries, and also an exclusive in the US), so I think there's a pattern there. Anyway I think the sandtrooper was actually a nice touch, seeing as we hadn't had one of those in a while, even if it was part of the cause for the final price.
