Holodoc Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Hi folks! When I had a look at my newspaper this morning I couldn´t belive my eyes: My favourite toy was on the frontpage! The reason was: The new Lego Doscovery Centre in Duisburg opened today! There is a miniland with a lot of local buildings from the "Ruhrgebiet", a 4D cinema, a small roller coaster, some kind of "Fabrik" like in the Legolands and a building (and buying) area of course. I planned to join a pre-opening visit via 1000steine.de, but then my son got (slightly) sick and we had to cancel the tour on wednesday. So I haven´t been there, but I´m still planning to do so. I´ll keep you updated. The fees: 13€ per adult, 9€ per child. For my dear oranje members: It´s just half an hour from the dutch border! Closer Lego shop ON! Quote
Natman8000 Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Cool! That Albert Einstien bust is freaky! Too bad I cant go since I in america. Quote
SirNadroj Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Cool new ~ always good to hear good ol' LEGO is getting publicity! In the second pic, on the top right, is that a person in a minifigure costume? Quote
Plural Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Thats really cool to hear and it looks like a very interesting exhibit. That kid in the lion looks less than happy though. Quote
JimBee Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 For my dear oranje members: It´s just half an hour from the dutch border! Closer Lego shop ON! well, good for you! it looks cool! for your dear american friend; its only a few months and a couple thousand dollars away! Quote
Shoc Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 (edited) Cooool. I'll see if I can go there next time I stay around the Dutch/German border. Are places like this "Mini Legoland" all around the world? I've never heard of anything like it! Edit: I see there are more. Looks interesting. Minifig scale miniland! New edit: There will be one in England! :skull: Edited April 19, 2008 by Shoc Quote
simonwillems Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 For my dear oranje members: It´s just half an hour from the dutch border! That's me! I will certainly pay it a visit next time I go to Germany. Although the Ruhr Gebiet isn't that much fun to visit usually, I will make an exception very soon. Thanks for bringing the news! Quote
Tohst Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 For those of us in America, this is the same thing they are opening in Shaumberg, IL. I think its meant to be open in the fall. Oh yeah, and there is always Legoland in CA. Lego takes care of us well...and takes all our money. -Tohst Quote
Asuka Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 I´m looking forward to your report and wish you much fun for you and your family.... Wow, they added a fourth dimension to cinema...? Is this something like Poincaré space or Minkowski space or just simply the Einsteinian fourth dimension, time...? I´m really feeling like living behind the moon right now.... Quote
Holodoc Posted April 19, 2008 Author Posted April 19, 2008 In the second pic, on the top right, is that a person in a minifigure costume? Yep! That´s really coll, isn´t it? Too bad I haven´t find somebody selling a costume like this... New edit: There will be one in England! For those of us in America, this is the same thing they are opening in Shaumberg, IL. I think its meant to be open in the fall. I read there´s going to be another Discovery Centre to be opened in Chicago. Think it was said in fall. Wow, they added a fourth dimension to cinema...? I believe it´s the same in the Legolands: They add some storm and snow and such things. Darn - no time travel this time! Quote
