Cylo Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 (edited) Hi all! I've been trying to mod some of my older sets and after watching the new clone wars trailer, it showed a landed ARC 170 with landing gear, which i don't think we've seen anywhere else. It gives us a glimpse of the front landing gear but not the back. I have a simple solution for the front landing gear but the back is much more complicated. I have tried multiple options but none seem to work. This way the model will look nice but there isn't a way for the landing gear to support the heavy weight at the back. Also the landing gear doesn't fit in the middle as there is a gearbox that takes all the space. Does anyone have a solution? Edited January 15, 2019 by Reaper Quote
jimmynick Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Hi @Reaper! I mocked up a basic solution for you, using the LDD model provided by @ADHO15. There's a brick above those dark red slopes that I replace with a technic brick. The liftarm that extends the landing gear rests against the bushings, holding the fighter up against gravity. See the pictures and attached .lxf. Hope this helps. .lxf is HERE. Quote

jimmynick Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 I'm not sure if the pin on the liftarm has friction or not. If it doesn't, you could look for an equivalent part, or take something like a minifig syringe or cut piece of flex hose (anything 1 stud long and the diameter of a lightsaber blade) to stick inside the pin to wedge it against the foot of the landing gear.
