So originally I only wanted to do another little shop for my Merrynight Market build, and thought about a plant usually called "Christmas Star". When doing some background reading, it came as no little surprise to me that these were first cultivated by the Aztecs, who used the red for dying fabrics and the sap for medical purposes. The Myzec people are clearly based on the Aztecs, so I already put a link between them and the "Merrynight Star" into my builds story linked above. While an active "export business" is nothing that would make sense for the Myzec, some plantation build(s) would still be reasonable. Showing the plants being used for dying cloth would make for another good factory, and a shaman producing a medicine from the sap and using it to cure somebod could be an artisan. I hope this gets somebody inspired. Sure did get someone inspired! Thanks Drunknok! Hopefully a dye 'factory' will be next. _____ When Corrish explorers first came to Myzectlan, they discovered that the Myzec grow a plant known as poinsettia. Poinsettia has bright red flowers that the Myzec use to produce red, pink and purple dyes. Interested in a potential local source of high quality dye - especially red, Corrish authorities in Myzectlan are eager to learn more. Here a small plantation can be seen in which the poinsettia plants are in bloom. Myzec workers will collect the flowers and delivery them to a nearby workshop for dye production. Quote
Kai NRG Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 The denseness of these plants is great. Looking forward to that factory! Quote
Professor Thaum Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Aaaargh... I'm very jealous if this plants... Erf sorry Quote
Roadmonkeytj Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 I love that you chose to situate this on a rolling hillside... Really would love a tutorial on your bushes! Quote

Really would love a tutorial on your bushes! No problems! I'm pretty sure the technic axle isn't available in green, but you could swap out the axle, rod and brick for reddish-brown and it would work in real Lego. Actually I think you could get it denser in real Lego as you could squash a lot more flower pieces in. Quote
Capt Wolf Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 I missed this earlier. Lovely seasonal scene, great bushes! Thanks for sharing the technique. Quote
Captain Dee Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Beautiful design! When you first posted this I tried in vain to tell how you built the plants, so thanks for sharing that. The hillside is also a neat feature, along with further development and depiction of the natives. But... what is LLD? Quote
Roadmonkeytj Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 @Ayrlego thanks! I will definitely use this in the future! I notice now that you mixed the old style flower with new... And I would have never guessed that the small leaf is the base to it all lol. Quote
Darnok Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Lovely little plantation build! The build captures the look of a real poinsettia bush pretty perfectly... Spoiler ... and thank you for the detailed instructions! I can not replicate it in real bricks, but there are some nice ideas in it nonetheless. Quote
