Matn Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 (edited) Wednesday I will get my Futuron Monorail and I will make from that monorail a City based one. Yesterday I have build the first prototype and today the second. I prefer the second model, but I want you to choose your favorite so I can see the opinion of others. The main colors are right, but there will be placed windows and the dark blue window could be changed in ligt blue (if I choose that one). When the time is right I will order the pieces on Bricklink to make a full monorail based on the chosen prototype. steelharbingerofdeath Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 i like the second one but they both seem blockey try breaking up the white with one of these in light grey. steel... Quote
Plural Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 If you move the windscreen on the 1st one forwards it might look a bit better, but the second one has a more consistent colour scheme what with the side window being the same as the front windscreen. Hop I've helped. Quote
Holodoc Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 So, my question to you: do you like them and which on which model should I base my actual monorail. I prefer the 2nd prototype over the first. :-) BUT... I think you made a big design mistake. I would suggest you either use or Try to avoid both types in one design. Or at least be very careful using both. It normally doesn´t look good if you mix them without looking at the hull it creates. Your Monorail has got a clear "line" where you used the slopes but has got an interruption when you used the curved slope on top of it. Also the curved slopes put on the front's underside don´t seem to fit to the wing plates used on top. I hope you get the point. I prefer smooth edges by the way. ;-) Here´s a nice comparison of both types of monorails (red - sharp edges / white - smooth edges): The white engine uses both parts mentioned above, but if you look from the side the 'line' is a clear parabola. simonwillems Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I think I would also go for the second option, maybe with some changes as to the aerodynamics like Holodoc suggested. But I like it without changes as well. Do you plan to add something to the centered motor? When your carriages are six wide and the motor isn't even four I fear it may look a bit odd.... (click on image to go to ratz'-folder) Monorail ON! *y* This is still the ultimate monorail, such a shame the real thing crashed a few years ago, killing all those people. Someday, when I have enough curved slopes I'll recreate it. Quote
Holodoc Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Someday, when I have enough curved slopes I'll recreate it. Hey - it's just 76 x 6005 + 16 x 6091 + 12 x 50950 for the white bricks... saving curves ON! ;-) Quote

Hey wait, would you believe it? I just opened a random drawer in my sorting system containing just those 104 extremely rare parts in exactly the right colour.... :-| X-D Wishful thinking on! :-) Edited March 31, 2008 by simonwillems Quote
Matn Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 Ok, thanks for your opinions. I have just replaced with These are very early prototypes, but the general idea is there. I think I will replace the roof with a bunch of these: or I will use plates with no studs for the roof. Quote
