Obviously we had the big leak with the set but no rumors if there is a gwp at this point. if the rumored prices are correct this will be a rare day one buy without a gwp for me if there is not one. Been waiting too long for Gondor. Were there leaks about GWPs in past releases? How early did we have those leaks in past years? And perhaps Lego has tightened the lid on leaks with the LOTR theme after the video leak. Have they purged the LAN leaker? Quote

Balrogofmorgoth Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Well folks, I am so so so happy with Minas Tirith!! Near perfect set to be honest. The figure count could be higher and I have some nitpicks about the figures (if an Andúril mold isn’t included it will be a huge miss), but overall I’m quite pleased with them. King Aragorn will be figure of the year easily. The build itself is incredible!! The exterior is absolutely amazing, I’m so happy they included all seven levels at a mostly accurate scale and proportion, and the minifig interior spaces are amazing. It’s a pity we don’t see the Houses of Healing in the video, but it’s something to look forward to! Day one purchase for certain Quote
Lordhelmet Posted February 25 Posted February 25 when do we expect to hear more (potential gwp?). etc. Curious what everyone's thoughts are. This is a must buy for me, it will be day one with a gwp or 2XVIP points, or I will wait till 2XVIP points on it, either way. Quote

Smeagol and Deagol leaked March 7th, 2025 which was released on April 2nd. So a month in advance. Therefore May is the best bet since Minas Tirith doesn't release till June. Quote

But they follow patterns because when people can leak information is not totally random. D2C sets is harder, but a lot of the retail sets leak because the information was shared with retailers who have less care about keeping those things secret. They get that information on a regular basis from Lego in advance of set releases. Sure the Minas Tirith leak happened early because of a mistake, so something could happen with the GWP, but most GWPs leak about a month before release. Another example besides Smeagol and Deagol was HP's GWP 40770 which leaked on August 7th before a September 1st release. Yet the SW May the 4th GWP leaked a few months ago. Quote

I'll need to figure out what to budget for the rest of the year. If the GWP is strong, it will be very difficult to avoid this day one. Quote

Lordhelmet Posted March 3 Posted March 3 (edited) Just built the Sauron helmet. Looks awesome, it was my first helmet build and so I was impressed (but have not built other helmets). Having another Sauron minifigure is nice too and the inclusion makes the set fee worth it. Fun build and looks cool. hope they do some more of these helmets with minifigure combos forLOTR. I will be getting the Sauron helm this year at some point. Quote

First image worldwide, second image UK / GBP only. It should help see what happens to the price of a Sauron minifigure both as sellers (and buyers) find out about the new Helmet set and then again at the time of release. A brief update. Not surprising, but the price for Sauron has dropped significantly. The worldwide average for March is now sitting at about £30 and the minimum prices are not much below that, so 60% of what he was in January and 55% of the set price. Two sold since January in the UK, for £50, and the lowest price is currently £40 so about 60% of the set price. Even at this "low" price, he is not selling. As other stores are selling the helmet set, I imagine it will be discounted at some stage so I expect his price to drop further. It is crazy really, he has only sold six times in the UK in the past six months on BL, a clear indication of being overpriced. Gothmog has been sold 15 times in the same period. There are 14 UK sellers with him on BL. 10 of them are charging a price equal to that of the new set price or more. Some sellers are either very slow to find out about new releases, or just have no clue about what the market is doing. Quote

Alcarin Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I hope no grond tbh... you can brickbuild that hammer head... Molded Mumakil would be the shizzz though... Quote
Cyprinus Posted March 12 Posted March 12 GWPs don't have new moulds. And generally are limited to 2 new prints (a sticker sheet can take the place of one) Quote
Jarreth2 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 As much as this isn't an official set .. it should be. It's stunning and I would buy this in a heart beat. The Argonath in upscaled minifigure form by weighted leaf. Let's make a battlepack that people are crying out for, but put it as a limited release that is ALSO behind a huge paywall. As opposed to $20 and general release, which it should be. Quote

chris6507 Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Does anyone else feel aprehensive at all about spending so much money on Minis Tirith as a nearly completely white set? I've wanted this set for over 10 years now. But now i'm getting worried. I bought the Star Wars republic Gunship in round 2012 (which is mostly white) and while that used to be my favourite set, it's near completely yellowed (this set never, ever even got sunlight and lived in a mostly dark room) to the point I can't even look at it anymore. Combine this with the fact that i've been rebuilding sets i've built and taken apart over the last 10 years and have been finding the last decade of LEGO bricks has very short lasting clutch power that rebuilding the LEGO treehouse the other day, pieces were literally falling off each other while I was trying to build. Not sure if this is just my experience, but just wondering if other people have had these same experiences and whether the yellowing and brick quality affects your desire to purchase this set? I really want it, but hoping some other peoples thoughts might help me to feel more confident in either my decision to purchase or not to purchase when it's released! Cheers! Quote

I don't own many solid white sets for this reason. Yet, my 2007 Imperial Landing Craft is relatively untouched. Sure its yellowed, but not to the point you would quickly notice without close inspection. I just bought Gringotts and have the Ghost from a few years back so we will see how they fare. Is it going to stop me from buying Minas Tirith? Not likely, but I went down the rabbit hole earlier this year about Lego changing their white to see if anything they did was to solve yellowing. The new white is a whole lot less opaque so it won't let light through as much, but that makes it almost feel like it will absorb more itself. There is a redditor who has been sun exposing a piece of the new white so we might soon have an answer. Quote
