fastbjorn Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 In this bookstore you can find a lot of unique books on the shelves. Behind the cashdesk you have a very big bookcase where you'll even need a ladder to access the books on the top shelf! Next to the bookstore there is an antiqueshop with a lot of old stuff, like an old sewing machine. When you go upstairs with the beautiful spiral staircase you'll find a few more books. There is also a newspaperpress which presses the newspapers everyday. For the owner there is a space on the top floor to read some books, do the administration or to get some fresh air on the balcony. Long story short, the building is full of detail and I've tried to use a lot of different building techniques. I've also finished the instructions, and ordered the bricks. Hope to start building the real building soon. Quote
Agent 86 Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Very nice. I like the colour combinations, the brick built "Books" sign and the novel approach to a dual purpose corner building. Quote
paupadros Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Nice model. There's some things I would change to improve it a little, for instance, the blue roof's corner should be more prominent, it should look like it's the main thing calling for attention. The windowing is a bit strange, but cool. I think you got the colours and the details mostly right, now only the shape could be a little bit better The black roof's technique is awesome! Quote
Digger of Bricks Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I love the pairing of Earth Blue atop Sand Blue for the bookstore, and the antique shop is a most lovely looking half-width modular, not to mention that those two are my favorite sort of stores to explore in my spare time. Quote

LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 The detail of the skates on the stairs is original, I like it The chimney built with the brick effect is another very nice detail Excellent modular building! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 I like the ground level arched window. That works well there. Much better than Market Street's attempt. I oddly like the two pillars with flowers flanking the entrance for the corner building. The colors work well together overall. I agree I think the window effects are odd. Not bad odd, just different. I think if you are going to do that style of window on the side of the blue building, you shouldn't also have the normal 1x2x2 windows on the same building (on the same level). I'm a man of consistency. The interior on the upper level looks really neat. The colors play off each other well and there are a lot of little details present. My problem with modular interiors, I never show them to anyone, so they don't matter to me. But they do look neat when done. Quote
Bricked1980 Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 This is a good looking a building. There are some nice little details that really stand out to me. I like the arches running at the base of the blue building and the ladder piece covering the top half of the window on the antique store looks very effective, as do the steps leading up to the main entrance of the book store. The colours used and the overall shaping are great. Good job! Quote

Thanks, the reason for the different windows is because of the space I had. My sollution was to build different windows. I agree more consistency would make the building better on the outside, but it would give me problems with the inside. Quote
The Jersey Brick Guy Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Do you have any interest in selling these instructions? I would love to purchase them and build this for my city. Quote

Gneird Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Very cool, thank you for sharing! I particularly like the roof on the antique store, the window treatment on the front of the antique store, and the signage for the book store. Keep up the good work! Quote

bamsham363 Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 Always nice when the sign looks real too, adds to the authenticity Quote
