knotian Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 I have been looking for a way to fasten one end of a chain to an object. Even if the end was fastened to itself in a tight loop would work. Has any one run into this situation and solution. Rope will not work in this mechanism. I really don't want to use string to tie it. Thanx, Ed Quote
skppo Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 You can use one tread link at the end which can be connected to other parts in many ways Quote
Cumulonimbus Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 Last time I have seen a chain being attached to another component was in the 8835 fork lift set. Although the chain is in a continuous loop, it attached to the fork carrier in this manner: : Quote

knotian Posted August 2, 2018 Author Posted August 2, 2018 Also found that a tread link is a SNUG fit in a pin hole. Put several between a pair of 40 tooth gears and made spools. Quote
knotian Posted August 3, 2018 Author Posted August 3, 2018 1963maniac, Sorry, I meant to indicate a very tight, forced fit bordering on an illegal connection Quote
ludov Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 (edited) A 3L or longer plate also fits on a link. And 8862 uses two links to squeeze two connectors (which you can replace with something else of course, like beams); see page 10 of the instructions: Edited August 4, 2018 by Ludo Visser Quote
Captainowie Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 A small gear on a locked axle might also work. Page 116 of Toranomaki (http://www.isogawastudio.co.jp/legostudio/toranomaki/en/) has some examples. Quote
