General Zen Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 (edited) Hey guys, while I was off the site for a good while I thought of a pretty good idea. I noticed that there are people on eurobricks that would love a pirates line or a romans line or maybe a non-jelly infested space line. What if they made one line that could link all of our wildest speculations together? This is just an idea and I thought we could all have some fun with this. My idea is this group of "time travelers" visit a desired time period and walk among the people who live there. They could visit Black Beard's ship and crew, relax with the roman emperor as he watches gladiators fight, or maybe visit the future in an epic war against an alien race! What are your thoughts? Is Zen insane? Does this sound awesome? Should Zen quit the crap ideas and get to work on his comic? Suggestions? I will be glad to hear them! *sweet* Edited March 23, 2008 by General Zen Quote
Faramir Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 (edited) That would be a cool idea, kinda like little vigs in time (except not vigs, of course.) They should be against someone, though-- I don't really think they would be traveling in time just to make TLC money, more to stop some crazed milkman or something... Like the Alien War idea, maybe they can use the jellies as some kind of renewable fuel source >:-) . --Faramir Edited March 23, 2008 by Faramir Quote
Hinckley Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 :-D You're not insane. But, it does sound a lot like Time Twisters. I wasn't really a big fan of that. I think the best solution is for TLG to create a really strong History line. The Space line is shaping up, IMO, but Pirates and Romans would be welcome themes. Personally if they tried to add Time Travelers and Time Travel machines to those sets, I wouldn't want them to pull their focus away from the actual sets. I'd rather have a full coliseum than a half of one with a Time Travel ship... That's just my opinion. *sweet* Quote
iamded Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Kinda reminds me of Time Cruisers. X-D ~Peace Quote
Scouty Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 This is just an idea and I thought we could all have some fun with this. They could visit Black Beard's ship and crew, relax with the roman emperor as he watches gladiators fight, or maybe visit the future in an epic war against an alien race! I like that idea *sweet* , but just a very *very* simple AND universal design for the time ship and no relation to the history subjects. I'd rather have a fullblown Pirate theme, though :-P . Quote
Erdbeereis Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 I think a history line would be fantastic! I would really like to see maybe Romans, Greeks, Pirates, and definitely Cavemen...jk :-P . Although now that I think about it, Cavemen might be a hit! Just think about it... One set could be: The Invention of The Wheel! Or: Sabertooth Attack! X-D Quote
legotrainfan Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Two words: STAR TREK! ;-) I'm totally of your opinion! I'd love to have a big Star Trek spaceship! Or even several different spaceships! *wub* Sometimes I ask myself what will come after Star Wars. Star Wars is a great theme but LEGO won't be producing those sets forever. So what will come after it? Maybe Star Trek? This year a new Star Trek movie can be seen in the cinemas. Would be a good opportunity to release one or two Star Trek sets. Quote
AgentRick Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I want Lego transformers, nothing like that Built to Rule stuff, but something to go with the 2009 sequel being released in summer. A mix of Exoforce and Bionicle with new minifigs and an excuse to make Military tanks and helicopters! Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Two Words: Pi rates! Wait that's one word, I mean Pirates! Quote
darkrebellion Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I would *wub* a Jurassic Park line and with the fourth movie near to us I really think lego could approach this opportunity to launch a line like the one of IJ with the first three movies sets first and then the fourth movie sets. This will be a line with new dinosaurs molds and more realistic ones. Before I collect lego star wars I collect the jurassic park merchandise and a lot of the kenner line so for sure I will buy the whole line. Quote
Stealth Hunter Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 You´re all wrong it is: Command&Conquer *wub* *wub* Quote
Shoc Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 It does sound a lot like Time Twisters. I agree, though the time twisters/time cruisers lines only hinted that the characters had travelled to different times (or themes anyway) by the variety of pieces (very resourceful sets, they were). Personally if they tried to add Time Travelers and Time Travel machines to those sets, I wouldn't want them to pull their focus away from the actual sets. I'd rather have a full coliseum than a half of one with a Time Travel ship... I think if TLC were to add a time machine to each set (as they probably would do) they would have to make it a very small time machine so the main focus was on the historical aspects. Anyway, this is a great idea, Zen! *skull* Quote
Tarfful Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 A strong History line is one of my biggest dreams for TLG to produce. :'-) I would want it to rage from Anchient times (Romans, Greeks, Pyrsians, Gauls, Germanic Tribes, Egyptians, Celts ect. ect.) to maybe WWI, or slightly before to be less contreversial. The theme itself would have to be produced for years to get all the way from Anchient Rome-WWI and everything inbetween, but hey I'm willing to wait. :-D On another note for the Licsensed theme of my dreams it would have to be a Total War series, which is almost the same as a history theme. X-D History Theme in the (hopefully) near future ON! General Tarful Quote
Tohst Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Hey guys, while I was off the site for a good while I thought of a pretty good idea. They could visit Black Beard's ship and crew, relax with the roman emperor as he watches gladiators fight, or maybe visit the future in an epic war against an alien race! This also sounds like the first mini-fig idea book with Bill and Mary starting in town and then eventually taking a space ship through space and then visiting the castle planet. With no words, it was hard to know if they were visiting another planet or going through time or what. While I like the idea, I worry that instead of getting a cool pirate theme or a cool Roman theme, we'd get a goofy spaceship, a generic looking wall, and a decorated mini-fig. I'd much rather have Lego do full blown themes and just pretend that Star Justice Cruiser can make its way between them. Although the idea of a bad guy from Agents and a Time Agent being extra random mini-figs in historical sets over the course of a few years would make me smile. You know, some castle guy with the cybernetic head and then some Roman with sunglasses and an earpiece. -Tohst Quote
blueandwhite Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Honestly, I liked the good ol' days when LEGO had a few core lines that they continued to expand on year after year. With Town and the apparent continuation of Castle in 2009 I'm more interested in how these lines develop as a coherent unit rather than saturating the market with short-lived lines that don't do much other than hurt LEGO's bottom line. While I wouldn't mind seeing the return of Pirates and Space, I've never been a huge fan of having 20+ different one-year lines that fans and kids start to collect only to find out that the line has already been discontinued. I look at lines like Ninja, Vikings and any number of other one or two year lines as being major disappointments simply because the lines were dropped before they had a real chance to develop. I don't want to see Castle or any other line go down the tubes simply so that LEGO can introduce a new line that will last as long as memorable favorites like Rock Raiders, Time Cruisers or Dino Attack. My dream line is... Castle. Needless to say, I don't really want to see it dropped for another line that doesn't really grab buyer interest forcing me to wait another decade for a castle revival. AmperZand Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I think a history line would be fantastic! I would really like to see maybe... Greeks Mythic Greece would be great! Just imagine Spartans, a minotaur, a chimera, a medusa, a hydra, a satyr, a centaur or two etc. *wub* Actually, I couldn't wait and I've already created a pegasus and Greek hero: ...definitely Cavemen...jk :-P . Although now that I think about it, Cavemen might be a hit! Just think about it... One set could be: The Invention of The Wheel! Or: Sabertooth Attack! X-D I think that TLC already created a Caveman line for Duplo so they're clearly not opposed to the idea in principle. They did knights & dragons for both Duplo and regular minifigs after all so there's a precedent for them using the same theme twice. Quote
snefroe Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 well i'd be happy with an adult space line... a line with really sophisticated and big sets, with at least the quality of the sw line for the models and the figs. Quote
M'Kyuun Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I'll echo the desire for a strong history theme; however, I'm inclined to want it done more in the UCS line so that the same kind of attention and detail we got in Green Grocer and Cafe Corner could be employed. A transforming mecha theme has been my dream line since Transformers erupted on the scene in 1984; like someone else mentioned, I wouldn't want to see this done like Built To Rule, nor like transforming Gundams, nor like a transforming EF mech, as none of these bring the "WOW" factor like seeing a recognizeable realistic vehicle become a robot. I'd like to see the theme done in such a way as to make the things fit in with current City sets, with attention to both aesthetics and functionality. Being a part of the design team for this would be my ultimate dream job. They wouldn't even have to pay me, I'd just show up! :-D I'd start by designing a smaller series of strong ratcheting joints so that the line could be kept within the 6 and 8 stud wide range, look like just another City vehicle set with as much of the hinges and transforming mechanisms hidden as possible on that scale. It can and could be done. If TLC would concede, I'd lobby to create a few of these as space and possibly military type vehicles as well. Of course, If Tobey Macguire is successful in getting a live-action Robotech movie made, TLC may decide to produce a few "Veritechs". An official transforming LEGO VF-1S with fast packs, if done well, could be an amazing set to behold. Quote
Scyzoryk Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 and definitely Cavemen...jk :-P . Although now that I think about it, Cavemen might be a hit! Just think about it... One set could be: The Invention of The Wheel! Or: Sabertooth Attack! X-D I totally agree with you, that would be AWESOME!! They can use the huge clubs that the ogres (big Trolls) in the Castle line have. Also A LEGO TIGER PELT!! Just imagine, just like armor, just a ripped-up kinda looking leapord print pelt. That would be a BLAST!! Even a new hair mold, like an unclean, shaggy, & damaged hair mold!! AWESOME!! Also a big brute, Hagred-sized caveman champion!!! WOOOOOT!!!!!!! I know I am getting ahead of myself :-$ , because Lego already made cavemen in Duplo, but minifig scale would be perfect!! :'-( Quote
