I went on a short trip to the mountains yesterday and came across a 6th century monastery which I think could inspire a nice MOC by some of you Castle and Viking fans.

It was built around the time of the Vikings I believe, and as they used to raid the village the tower's door was 30metres above the ground (rope ladder used to climb up and pull up when under attack)

I also came across some sheep, which I think would be neat if TLC created.

A graveyard too seems apt with all the new skeletons.

EDIT by Hinckley: Calvin, this Brickshelf folder seems to have been moved...

Hi Calvin,

thanks fot that nice pics! Do you know the name of the monastery? I´m very interested about old stuff in Ireland, that´s why i´m asking.

I like the idea of building something like that. The only problem IMO are the roundtowers. Could it be that they are smaller then light towers for example? But i like the idea of the graveyard.

Greetings

The folder seems to have been removed from Brickshelf. I wonder if the moderators unapproved it because it wasn't construction toy pics. I seem to remember them doing that recently to someone else...

Hmmm, that's rather... uhmm... phallic...

Steve

Nonsense! It's just a large erect tower... :-P

EDIT: Oh yes, nice finds Calvin, the 3rd pic, the actual building, would look great in bricks. (Lego bricks that is.) *y*
