Ronan Nissen Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Would you or would'nt you like to have Watchmen sets based on the new film? Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Isn't that going to be a violent, violent film? Not very suitable as a new LEGO line. The characters look cool, but I'm such a pop culture nut I'd buy any minifig based on a film or tv character...! Quote
Deinonychus Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Yeah...we should have those...right after LEGO gives us Halo sets of course ;-) Quote
the enigma that is badger Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Sexual assault, genocide, and full frontal, bright blue nudity. Yep, that's got TLC written all over it. badger Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 full frontal, bright blue nudity. And a threesome, no less. Quote
Dadster Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Hurrm. Rorschach in Lego form? No Way. Never happen. Quote
Joebot Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 To be fair, I think the original question was "Would you like to see Watchmen Lego sets?" not "Do you think we'll get Watchmen Lego sets?" The answer to that second question is obviously a big, fat NO, given the subject matter. But to answer the first question ... hell yes! The Nite Owl sets would be very cool. I'm trying to be optimistic about the upcoming movie, but I dunno. Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Oh boy another " new crap license idea" thread :-| Don't you guys have nothing else to do than request lines that will never happen ?? And names I have to look up to see what it actually is :-D *yoda* Quote
Deinonychus Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Oh boy another " new crap license idea" thread :-| :-D I think this calls for a repost! Here's the deal people...Licensed LEGO themes ARE NOT the vehicle for your personal favorite franchise to be made into toys. LEGO is very careful about choosing what licenses they make into sets. With very few exceptions (Avatar and Jurassic Park jump to mind, but I think Avatar may have been a package deal with Spongebob) they are themes that have a broad, perhaps even worldwide, appeal.LEGO has also prospered so long by staying somewhat true to a building, learning, and fun angle with their products, and if something can't easily fit into those requirements, then it won't be licensed. I've also noticed the themes that seem to do the best are heavily vehicle based. As in Batman doing relatively well where Spider-Man crashed and burned. Perhaps I can wedge that into my sig Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Perhaps I can wedge that into my sig X-D Are you tired to repeating yourself lately :-P *yoda* Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I've also noticed the themes that seem to do the best are heavily vehicle based. As in Batman doing relatively well where Spider-Man crashed and burned. I knew Spiderman was "hot" at the time, but using him as a line of sets was confounding. Spiderman's about a guy (minifig) who fights strange enemies (minifig) in city locations (just... buildings...). Must've been some strange licensing package deal, like the one you theorized with Spongebob and Avatar. Now, if you want a license with worldwide appeal and vehicles... Transformers. And why not? If Hasbro has Star Wars and Transformers, why not Lego too? It'd be a great way for Lego to introduce smaller robot faces into our mechs. Lego finally delivered on "fingers", now we need a way to have cool, Transformer-like faces that aren't just 1-piece bricks like the dead Built To Rule line had. Quote
Ronan Nissen Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 Jeez, you guys take topics WAY too seriously!! Quote
jedikermit Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Ronan, for the record, I love the idea of Watchmen LEGO. We all know it won't ever happen, but I think the designs of the characters, the vehicles and locations would really lend themselves nicely to that particular group of superheroes. Blowing each others brains out. *wub* Yeah, it's a job for customizers. Quote

Wout Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 ...and full frontal, bright blue nudity. Suggest this Smurf pretty daisy? :-P X-D ;-) I don't know if I want it, not much heard about this watchmen story. I not wanted Speed racers license, but it have some nice pieces and figs, so maybe I would buy something from it. Quote
