Roadmonkeytj Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Gustaf was growing tired of sleeping in a spare store room at the Salty Shipworks so he decided to erect a home. After all if he was to keep up with the idea that he was just a landlubber businessman then he needed to fit in. So plans were drawn and in his spare time he completed the structure. He even did some landscaping to make it look less like an old tavern. Ooc: Finally got around to building a residence ... No interior for now ... This will be licenced as a small residence in Charlatan Bay Thanks for looking c&c welcomed Quote
Professor Thaum Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 A nice one ! This corbelled front with half timbering is great ! Quote
Elostirion Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Nice work. Clean execution, looks really nice. Some of the dark green plants are a bit dusty, I'd suggest to clean them, e.g. with a paintbrush. The roof is really cool, the flowers and vines add a lot as well - and you placed glass behind the windows, wonderful! :-) Quote
Maxim I Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 I really like how you incorporated the big panels! Excellent! Quote
Flavius Gratian Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 That's a really nice looking house. I particularly like the roof, it looks old and worn out, indeed! Also, your solution for the lower windows is very clever! Quote
Darnok Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Nice one! As others have mentioned, the roof is really well done, and the panel pieces are brilliantly integrated into the build. THe lower windows are lovely too, they remind me of a building technique I first say in the Ninjago Destinys Bounty. My only advice for the future would be to clean your parts (that dust ), and maybe provide some dark background right behind the facades windows (so the white does not shine through). Apart from that: lovely MOC, well done! Quote
Capt Wolf Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Nice build. I must repeat what others have already pointed out: Great roof, great job of incorporating those printed panels, good work with the vines and such, cool approach to those lower level windows, and ... clean those dusty parts. But it's still a great build, with good color and general composition. When you have time for an interior, I'd love to see you do an interior for this façade. Quote

The dark green was a last minute thing actually robbed it off my villa savoye set ... As well as the trans clear for the windows 16 hours ago, Maxim I said: I really like how you incorporated the big panels! Excellent! I cant take credit for the idea just the execution of it lol 14 hours ago, Flavius Gratian said: That's a really nice looking house. I particularly like the roof, it looks old and worn out, indeed! Taking the roof from a couple of builds ive seen on here and adding a twist to it The windows were actually old doors lol just popped the pane out and the fences in ... I was planning on stained glass first floor but couldnt get it to look right 13 hours ago, Drunknok said: Nice one! Apart from that: lovely MOC, well done! Ill have to look into that set ... This was a morph of a castle window i seen used once As far as the light ... I had planned for there to be a soft yellow light but my son dropped the thing breaking the bulb right before i took the pictures so thats why you see the background in the windows 10 hours ago, Capt Wolf said: Nice build. Thats over ten years of dust collection from 5 different states lol its off the villa savoye one of my few models thats displayed year round lol ... But i agree looking back it stands out lol I have plans for an interior but not sure of the time frame ... I need a different approach to the windows and the door if building an interior lol not a very good inside \ outside model im afraid But thanks again all for the comments Quote
Bodi Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 Nice looking house, your guy should be proud to own such a beautiful property. The tudor wall looks beautiful. Quote
Kwatchi Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 (edited) That is a very fine facade, and the vines on the side are a nice touch. I may steal that window technique since I have a bunch of those fence pieces lying about. Welcome to Hightown Captain Gustaf! Edited February 9, 2018 by Kwatchi Quote

Your more than welcome to the technique ... Im sure im not the first to shove them in an old door frame ... But then again I've not really seen it before ... I think technically its an "illegal connection" as it flexes the doorway a little until you get them in there ... But I'm not really too worried bout that unless I start snapping bricks ... Which I did the other day ... Was a sad moment detached an new brick from a 20 yr old plate and it tore the end off the plate lol Quote
