RohanBeckett Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 (edited) Our big yearly Lego convention here in Melbourne Australia, was on last weekend, and we managed to put on a pretty good GBC layout Thanks to @rasikaa this year for coordinating it! Here are a few videos: My video, on Sunday Saturday: (most modules running - 111) @9v system's Akiyuki-only layout: Everyone else in the team, incl @Captainowie, @Cadder and others did a great job keeping everything running so well... We only had 76 modules last year, and the jump to over 100, especially with so many brand new modules, is a lot of work! I was happy that a couple of new ones of mine (eventually) worked really well.. and I'll probably do a separate post on them all Edited January 24, 2018 by RohanBeckett Quote
Berthil Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 (edited) Nice display. Brave to put the Ball Factory in. The Rainbow Wave seems to run not so smooth with the pistons moving is steps so balls bump against the next piston and stop. It is unclear to me why because mine runs smooth wit rarely a ball stopping, no balls bumping. Edited January 24, 2018 by Berthil Quote
rasikaa Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 @Berthil The Rainbow wave ran well for most of the time and was a heavy modification from the original. The jam in the video was due to some repairs on the ball factory stopping the module just before the video was taken. Both the ball factory and the rainbow wave were on the same controller. RohanBeckett Posted January 24, 2018 Author Posted January 24, 2018 Lisa (the builder of the rainbow wave) had made one comment on the module: if it was stopped, with balls mid-stream.. then they could never start flowing again, when it was restarted, due to the level 1x2 panel pieces supporting the balls. a non-standard mod, that she did, was to wedge a small piece of card, under the rear side, of each pair of panel pieces, so it was raised 1mm. This meant a slight forward leaning angle on the panels, and the balls continued to move, after the module was restarted. Quote

That's a good trick, a plate will also do :) Sometimes tables are not level, at least the Lego World tables were not. So leveling with a bit of tilt is fine. One or twe balls sometimes get moving again when the 3rd ball ticks them forward, but more that that indeed not possible. Quote
