Hello guys, I'm quite far into a project and the only thing I need to get started for real is to make functional augers like in the image shown below.

The width will be 3 studs and the total length can vary from 5 to 6 studs

I looked at Clausens Europa machine thing and I like his solution, but it's not effective as the spiraling auger is too slim/narrow.

I also tried using flex hoses but the distance seems to be too short to make a proper spiral with.

Should I just skip the auger entirely and make some sort of chamfer or narrowing down of the channel. I fear the bottleneck would become rather severe, but then again, I haven't tested it.

Use one of two (in fact some 5) available types of worm gears. What else?

I tried that as well, and it doesn't work because the there's not enough room between the spirals for materials.

Maybe not a real authentic auger solution, but have you considered using something like the rainbow wave GBC mechanism placed sideways (like piston movement pushing materials inwards)?

Have You meant this idea previously?

Yes, that's what I meant. I like the design and it seems like it would be reliable if only it had more auger and less rod

What about something like this:

Interesting, with that solution I would have to glue the pieces on to keep them in place. It would be a pain to rearrange them every time they were bumped into.

Oh wow, that is actually working nicely, and it looks quite "authentic" as well (minus the gaps). I should have thought of that my self, but was getting too technical, and didn't think of existing pieces.

Thanks @Jurss
