Piranha Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 I have always wanted TLC to make some more accurate and highly detailed cars in their sets. Most of the time we get off scale and ugly cars! Cars are a modern part of city/town life, so why don't we get better cars? Awhile back, town buildings weren't that great either, until Cafe Corner and Market Street! Those were the most highly detailed awesome LEGO buildings ever! I can only hope that someday LEGO cars will reach that detail *wub* The silver car form the agents line is a step in the right direction! Perhaps we need a Car based theme called "Tuners" X-D - Badass cars like Lamborghini's, Ferrari's and Porches built to minifig scale with heavy detail! - Hotties that start the races *wub* - Chance to get garages and part shops! Probably just a wild dream though.......... What do you think? Quote
Asuka Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 The silver car form the agents line is a step in the right direction!(...) - Hotties that start the races *wub* Yeah, it looks good, but a little huge, perhaps. I guess the road plates of today won Quote
Darth_Legois Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 More detailed and diffrent coloured 4-Wide cars is what i want *y* Quote
Johnny 5 Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 If TLG could aquire a license to produce a brand kinda like The UCS VW bug but minifig scale it would help in that area. Maybe GM they produce a large variety of vehicles for all sorts of uses. The thing Lego needs to understand is that you can have action filled imaginitive play with something other than police or fire. Take Hot Wheels for instance they have made a very successful brand with having lots of civilian elements in their products, sure the amount of police and fire is a bit dispopportionate but its not as bad as what we deal with. Joebot Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 I totally agree, but I think the problem is simply scale. Some of the six-wide vehicles (i.e., the garbage truck, the cement mixer, etc.) that have come out in the past few years have added some nice details. It's tough to squeeze detail like that into a four-wide car. The blue car in the new Town Plan set looks a really nice step in the right direction. Quote
rupi Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 I totally agree, we need more variety of cars and more detailed. I don't agree with the scale problem Joebot mentioned. One thing I don't like in the new 6W cars is that they are bigger but less detailed, they could be so much better. Doors is just an example :-/ I have to make a sticker "save car doors" :-D I don't expect Lego to make cars like Misterzumbi *wub* ...but they could be a lot better. And Lego is releasing some good models in the racers theme, Tiny Turbos and so, but their not minifig scale :-( Speed Racers is not a good example too, sure they are big (8W too big) but not much of detail either (not for that size). Darth_Legois Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 The blue car in the new Town Plan set looks a really nice step in the right direction. If they made just that car as a set with diffrent colours (aswell as blue) that would be good *y* Quote
DJ Force Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I don't expect Lego to make cars like Misterzumbi *wub* WOW! Just wow! *wub* *wub* *wub* *wub* *wub* Quote
Capn Frank Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I do like that there are more 6W vehicles like the garbage truck, fire trucks, patty wagon, concrete truck available recently. TLG has made the limited edition Steine Land Plice Car, which is vey nice, and with slight modifications, could hold a couple of MF's. I agree in general TLG could do a lot better, but it seems they're moving in the right direction. *y* I also would like to see more realistic car doors. |-/ ...I don't expect Lego to make cars like Misterzumbi *wub* ...but they could be a lot better. ... These are really awesome looking! X-O It would be spectacular if TLG made cars like these. *wub* P Quote
Piranha Posted March 9, 2008 Author Posted March 9, 2008 Thanks guys for your opnion's! Now that we all agree that LEGO should give us more realistic cars, I think this topic should become more of a car building technique topic where we share and discuss how to build better LEGO cars. Yesterday I was trying to build the Camaro Concept (6-wide) *Reference Image The front was really annoying , I never could get the angular look of it I tried everything, but then had an idea to use for the front That would give it the angled shape I am looking for I haven't tried it yet but plant to do so today P Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 To be honest I prefer the classic cars, eg 1980s, although they do lack realism if u look at them too much. The new trucks are getting more realistic but are 6 studs wide. Quote
Section8 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Most of the time we get off scale and ugly cars! Cars are a modern part of city/town life, so why don't we get better cars?Awhile back, town buildings weren't that great either, until Cafe Corner and Market Street! I like the old cars, they scaled well with the old buildings which predominate my collection. Lego is still making town buildings at that scale, so I hope they'll continue with the cars too. The new cars and trucks are out of scale with the older sets. The same with the new giant airplanes, they're larger than either of my airport buildings. A line of super realistic cars would be nice, but not at the expense of the traditional system vehicles. Kind of like the thing Lego is doing with buildings with the CC and City sets. Super realistic cars would have the same appeal as CC buildings to younger kids, too complex and not enough playability. But a few sets might sell well amongst the older crowd. Quote
