Kai NRG Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 (edited) First Flight: 27 July, 1972 Cost: Roughly $28 million The F15 is used in the US, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Israel, and there have been over 1000 built so far. Believe it or not, the F15 Eagle has never been shot down! I had to include a little functionality - so a small part of the wings can bend up. The engines were fun, I had thought I'd never find a good use for those Airjitzu spinner parts! Here's a view of the belly of the beast. My grandfather worked on this plane - simulating war combat and calculating fuel and missiles - so when I decided to build him something, this was a logical choice! Thanks for checking it out! C&C welcome, enjoy! Edited November 27, 2018 by Kai NRG Too many !! Quote
Captain Dee Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 Fantastic! I love it. Very good design, and nicely detailed considering the smallish scale. So much more specific than that generic Creator jet from 2-3 years ago. Military jets often fly over my dad's farm (practice flights, or mission training or something...) and to this day I'll drop what I'm doing and run look for them whenever I hear them coming/feel the ground shaking. At least twice I've been driving a tractor and they'd sneak up from straight behind, really low altitude, high subsonic speed, and when they cross over there's this heart-stopping explosion of sound... I bet they're laughing when they do it. Good work. Now build us a Tomcat, Falcon, Hornet, Raptor, and... and... did I miss any? Quote
koalayummies Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 That is really accurate for such a small scale and very nice construction methods. Also great choice of multi-role aircraft, so many others usually take the spotlight over the Eagle. Wonderful MOC, great work! Quote

I've been considering doing another one, it would be fun to have a whole collection! 17 hours ago, koalayummies said: That is really accurate for such a small scale and very nice construction methods. I found this to be a perfect scale for accuracy... big enough for there to be lots of options, but small enough that I could spend time fiddling with all the sections! Quote
dr_spock Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Nice build. You capture the look and feel of the F15 Eagle. Which fighter did the F15 replace in the USAF? Would an F16 Falcon be next? I think it's first flight was a couple of years later. Quote

If you mean will I build it next though, don't know, if I decide to keep going I'd probably do a different one actually! I can't figure out what exactly the F-15 replaced, I'm not sure it repaced any specific aircraft, it seemed more to close a gap that was missing in lighter, more maneuverable attackers. Thank you!
