Aventador2004 Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 My semi big project, not the one I talked about yesterday, is now being done before this massive project. 2 L motors Geared 20:12 for speed. RC treads, one L motor each. Manual winch (optional motorization.) Removable body. Modular construction. The progress so far: Thanks for looking, and please drop a comment. Quote
kbalage Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Looks pretty cool with nice proportions! Can't wait to see the performance in snow :) Quote

I will be sure to update any improvements or videos when I can. I can assure you it is fast and torquey. Quote
Myers Lego Technic Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 No snow? We’re already at 3 feet! Joys of Northern Canada. Quote
kbalage Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Good for you! I'm still waiting for the snow with the RC Tracked Racers... Quote

Yes, but you guys don't get warmth much right? :) 22 minutes ago, kbalage said: Good for you! I'm still waiting for the snow with the RC Tracked Racers... Speaking of, how do you think this stacks up next to the 42065? I know mine is faster, but theirs is light. Of course, this would be a preliminary assessment. kbalage Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Yours is wider I think so it looks more like a serious snow machnie :) It's interesting I didn't try to gear up the L motors when I made the test with the different versions of 42065, went straight with the buggies for speed :) I might give them a try though... Try only up to 20:12, any more causes them to stall when steered. How wide is 42065? I will measure mine. Quote
zux Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Great lightweight model! Reminds me of my tracked vehicle I did some time ago. Although I tried keeping motors as high as possible, to withstand the actual snow conditions. Quote

I only wanted to drive it inside, so this is a fine height. Quote

Ottawa (where I live) hasn't gotten a speck! All I want is snow! Sorry for offtopic! As, for the MOC, quite nicely done so far! Quote
BusterHaus Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Nice build, although I wouldn't try it in non-packed snow. It will sink into the snow and the tracks will spin without traction. Quote

With how little snow we get, that won't be a problem. My driveway is flat, so there is plenty room. Quote

I mean that at this moment (21:41 local time) there is a storm with rain that is frozing on ground around our house and tomorrow's forecast says snow (and I have to go out with my car)...We have here hot summers with some 40 degrees celsius and winters with some -20 or more (big differences - like we have subtropical and mauntain clime...) so I meant that you are lucky to have very little amount of snow sorry for off topic Quote

mocbuild101 Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Nice, looks good, but I think some more panels would make it look better... Maybe a 5x11 on the roof, and a couple more of those side panels... Also, I see you've managed to upload some HD video finally! Quote

The roof is still being worked on, but the open roof and side panels are supposed to be windows. I also am making a crane for it, so I needed room. Yes, my dad found the problem. When you direct upload first, it won't allow you, but if you go directly to the app and upload it does HD... What? Quote
1gor Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Looks good, but now I have to appologize, because there is "snow" business waiting for me outside and this time it is manual work Sorry no snow groomer available for me Quote
kbalage Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 It's interesting, based on this video it seems to have a similar speed like the 42065 with the M motors. Can you post a pic about the gearing used? Quote

Can you post a pic about the gearing used? Mine is way faster, and has more torque. Sariel calculator says: (L motor gearing added) M motor: The theoretical output speed will be 185 RPM at 7V and 275 RPM at 9V. The theoretical output torque will be 3.63 N.cm. L motor: The theoretical output speed will be 346.7 RPM at 7V and 453.4 RPM at 9V. The theoretical output torque will be 3.89 N.cm. 2 hours ago, mocbuild101 said: Look on the outsides of the tracks... I forgot to mention that in the first post, treasure hunt on it. Quote
