The Mugbearer Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 (edited) Yeah, you heard that right, LDD is no longer available from the official sources. Downloading previous versions is not feasible, auto-download feature doesn't work because installer is not on the server! I am tilted. 6th of October update: The installer is back on Lego servers. Edited October 6, 2017 by The Mugbearer Quote
mocbuild101 Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 (edited) That's strange... because I can download it just fine... and it's version 4.3.10 - which is the latest version (although it only says it's version 4.3) You can get it here: http://ldd.lego.com/en-us/download Edit: I mistakenly downloaded the picture of the "download" button... Oops Edited October 5, 2017 by mocbuild101 Quote
The Mugbearer Posted October 4, 2017 Author Posted October 4, 2017 @mocbuild101 Even stranger, since you have no problem downloading it! And I get this: May I ask you for a favor? Can you send me the installer somehow? Quote
Eggyslav Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Either LDD is officially Dead, or, and that's just my hopeful thinking, they're preparing an update? But no, I guess not, It's just ded. You should contact TLG's Customer Service, and ask them about it... Quote
MatthewRC Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Or there might be a successor program to Lego Digital Designer in the works, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for it. Quote
The Mugbearer Posted October 4, 2017 Author Posted October 4, 2017 First of all, they wouldn't remove installer file for ldd on an official ldd page, even if they are prepping something new. Besides, auto-update feature will take care of fetching the latest installer anyway. Secondly, can we not with the "ldd is dead" talk? And thirdly, I shall write to the customer support. Quote
JopieK Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Maybe the server is just down, but apart from that, LDD seems to be 'over': https://www.brothers-brick.com/2016/01/21/lego-digital-designer-officially-defunded-and-unsupported-news/ Quote

Now I also get the same server error that you get... But I have a copy of the installer on my computer... I'm just having trouble uploading it to Bricksafe... Iloveazure Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 TLG shouldn't abandon LDD. Instead, they should integrate a user friendly 3d rendering software into it in my humble opinion. Quote

Didn't they say that they just won't release any software updates? Like, brick palette updates are fine, but they will never add new funtionality, and will not tweak the atrocious UI for things like decal palette. Quote
PicnicBasketSam Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 The link provided above to the download page works fine for me... I have noticed that every single time something odd happens with LDD, the entirety of this forum starts whispering, "could this be... an update?" and it puzzles me as to why... the last couple of times LDD has been updated it has been completely without warning.... didn't they used to actually announce these things ahead of time? Quote
The Mugbearer Posted October 5, 2017 Author Posted October 5, 2017 Just checked and it's still 404 not found. Could this be regional thing? Quote
MatthewRC Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 In case you guys want to find out when LDD was recently updated the last few times, here's a link with its version history log. LEGO Digital Designer version history log Quote
StarWars8Spoiler Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Just use the Wayback Machine. It seems as if you can download the installer that way.https://web.archive.org/web/20170105094023/http://cache.lego.com/downloads/ldd2.0/installer/setupLDD-PC-4_3_10.exe Quote

legolijntje Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 I think someone is just screwing something up at the server in general, not specifically related to LDD. All files located at http://cache.lego.com/downloads/ don't work. Take a look. Quote

Kevin Flemming Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 (edited) Works fine for me. Able to click on the Download button and receive the file. I'm the UK, if that makes any difference. EDIT: I've downloaded both the PC and Mac versions, and uploaded them to my MediaFire account. So if you still can't download them, feel free to get them from here: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/3okg6n7ej5pee/LEGO_Digital_Designer Edited October 6, 2017 by Kevin Flemming Ugh, spelling and grammar errors lol. The Mugbearer Posted October 6, 2017 Author Posted October 6, 2017 Okay, here's an update on the issue: as of October the 6th the installer is back on Lego servers. Quote

That's good, and I was right - Lego did move their downloads to a new server! It was: http://cache.lego.com/downloads/ldd2.0/installer/setupLDD-PC-4_3_10.exe (still doesn't work) And now it is: https://lc-www-live-s.legocdn.com/downloads/ldd2.0/installer/setupLDD-PC-4_3_10.exe (works fine) Quote
The Mugbearer Posted October 7, 2017 Author Posted October 7, 2017 @mocbuild101 That's good to know! Quote
