Batbrick Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 (edited) I was thinking, now that we've seen the new Batman sets, and I'm sure a lot of you were disappointed with only one new fig, what do you want to see next from the Batman theme? List anything, go nuts. More Batmobiles? More figs? Discontinuation? More buildings? What? List ideas for new sets if you wish, or just what characters you'd like to see. Personally, the thing I want most is Gordon right now, along with a new trenchcoat mold for him. He's probably the single most important character we have yet to get. After that I want Ra's Al Ghul and Talia, then other villains and heroes like Mad Hatter, Clayface, Batgirl and Lucius Fox. What about you? BTW, if this thread needs to be merged with an older one, or existing one, thats fine, I just couldn't find anything that needed reviving :-) Batbrick Away! >:-) Edited February 12, 2008 by Batbrick Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Good idea for a thread! I'd personally like to see the more from the Video Game! But everyone wants that, eh? X-D In speculation, I'd like to see Gordon, as do you, and basically more villains, but more importantly, more henchman! In one of the screenies I THINK, I'm not sure, but I THINK I saw a red henchman! Of Harley? 8- Quote
Deinonychus Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Yeah, Ras, Clayface, and Hush are on my Minifig wishlist. I'd also like to se a couple different versions of the Batmobile as well as a Batplane. Yeah, I know we got a Batwing right away, but that's a little different ;-) Quote
Tohst Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I know what I want that we won't see; buildings. The architecture of Gotham is idealily as much of a character as the stars. So, I want police headquarters with a rooftop, batsignal, Gordon, Renee Montoya, and yes, maybe even a Batman. You could even throw Bane in there as there has been at least one fight with him there. Or was that a dream sequence in the animated series? I want a clock tower with Oracle, Huntress (I know, dream on), and if we say everything has to have a bad guy, Clock King I want whatever that tower-thingy is that the Bat-clan sits on and looks out from. With Nightwing, and Azrael And I want Wayne Manor with Ra's and Talia What I have a chance of getting: Another batmobile with the Riddler on his tricycle. A Javelin 7 type batplane and ManBat And A helicopter pack Batman and Poison Ivy -Tohst Quote

xwingyoda Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I would love some more cool villains such as: * Man Bat * The gReat White Shark (cool face - looks like a 50's ghoul) * Black mask(tux and black skull on !!) * Lady Shiva (need more hottie villains hehe) I would love a new batboat that looks like a real off shore boat (like my MOC :-P ) I would love a new batsuit black and silver (like the shadow troopers: black suit and silver modern bat logo !!) *yoda* Quote
Batbrick Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 I would love some more cool villains such as:* Man Bat * The gReat White Shark (cool face - looks like a 50's ghoul) * Black mask(tux and black skull on !!) * Lady Shiva (need more hottie villains hehe) I agree with Manbat and Black Mask, and hope maybe for Lady Shiva, but I think The Great White Shark is a little obscure. Still, theres always Firefly, Mad Hatter, Ra's Al Ghul, Talia Al Ghul, Clayface, Black Mask and lots more :'-) I would love a new batboat that looks like a real off shore boat (like my MOC :-P ) Oh I agree, that Moc is fabulous Yoda, something like that would be very, very welcome to the collection. I loved that they made a Hovercraft type incarnation, but the classic sleek Batboat would be superb. I would love a new batsuit black and silver (like the shadow troopers: black suit and silver modern bat logo !!) That would be nice. I would also love to see more batsuits, heres my list: Armoured batsuit, dark grey batsuit, Batman Begins/The Dark Knight suit, futuristic/techno suit and even a winter themed suit for Mr.Freeze. *yoda* Batbrick Away! X-D >:-) Quote
xwingyoda Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 even a winter themed suit for Mr.Freeze. I can see the Dark Knight Hoth style (and not hostile mind you :-P ) :-D *yoda* Quote
captaintau Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Batgirl. OK, the George Clooney Batman was abysmal, but Alicia Silverstone in the batsuit - serious HELLO factor! Quote
Batbrick Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 I can see the Dark Knight Hoth style (and not hostile mind you :-P ) :-D *yoda* "Echo 3 to Echo Batman, are you there?" :-D That said, thinking of Hoth made me think of Mr.Freeze, and thinking of Mr.Freeze made me think of what a cool base would look like with him, and thinking of his cool base made me think that TLC really owes us another one after the Riddler Gate fiasco, and thinking of that made me think that a base would be another great way to introduce new figs, like a base with Mad Hatter, Black Mask, Clayface and Firefly. That would be neat. Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
Deinonychus Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Still, theres always Firefly Oh, I totally forgot about Firefly...he'd be great! Although...I officially quit if LEGO gets as far as Maxie Zeus :-P Quote
lego.ryan Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 More minifigs and more buildings, definitely! It'd be nice to see the theme branch out, instead of just having the vehicle be the prominent part of the set. I'm not saying no vehicles at all, just spice it up a little. ;-) Quote
Batbrick Posted February 13, 2008 Author Posted February 13, 2008 Oh, I totally forgot about Firefly...he'd be great! Although...I officially quit if LEGO gets as far as Maxie Zeus :-P Firefly would also get us the Mr.Freeze/Space Jetpack piece in bley *wub* Plus a new helmet mold possibly. What? No Maxie Zeus? Next you'll be bad mouthing King Tut and Egghead! X-D More minifigs and more buildings, definitely! It'd be nice to see the theme branch out, instead of just having the vehicle be the prominent part of the set. I'm not saying no vehicles at all, just spice it up a little. ;-) I agree, the theme needs to balnce out more, give us buildings AND vehicles. We need Gotham Police Station, Badguy Hideout, Wayne Manor and maybe even a Batcave Extension.... Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Why are henchman more important than characters may I ask? Surely they are easily created out of basic parts? Batbrick Away! >:-) Basic parts? Make me a Two-face henchmen out of basic parts. ;-) *hint hint* I just prefer more than two figures in each set. You know, one villain and Batman. Plus, it'd be even better if we could get some sets with two villains, a hideout, and several henchman! I just prefer sets overloaded with accessories! >:-) So what I was saying was don't say 'We aren't giving you any more henchman but we're giving you twice as many villains!'. ;-) Surely TLC can do both! Ah I see. Still, I'll easily rank characters above generics, but I agree there needs to be more minifigs in sets. If no new characters, then put a henchman in the Harley and Penguin set TLC. I assume the normal gun molds will be in each set, except maybe the smallest one. I would like to see a badguy hideout a lot. Its an easy way of introducing more villains (Mad Hatter, Black Mask), maybe even a kidnapped hero (Batgirl, Commissioner Gordon) and of course Bats and Henchmen. This is why we need to fully support the Batman theme those who want new characters, so we can assure a fourth wave :'-) Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
Mofo Jones Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 60s TV Batmobile. I will buy it on sight, even if it's overpriced at TRU. Quote
Shadows Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 You've managed to make some excellent suggestions for additional characters and vehicles and ultimately that's all we're likely to get. I love the idea of some buildings, but just don't see it happening. Play oriented = vehicles = swoosh. It's just the way it is. I can deal with that. The modular building line covers plenty of Gotham potential (there's a suggest, make a modular building that looks like it belongs in Batman, but don't license it). That said, I will make a single point that I feel can't be left out, and it's directed at whichever LEGO representative reads this thread (and trust me, they do). Commissioner Gordon obviously requires a trenchcoat, and I'm sure that there has been some hesitation to take that step. Do it. Here's why. We all know that eventually you'll make an Endor assault set in the SW line, and when you do, Han needs his trenchcoat. The entire rest of his figure will be stock parts. It's a simple double-duty situation, and one that you can even take a step further. New Agents line, second wave: Boss or villian in trenchcoat and fedora (also giving it a nice double-duty use). To even sweeten it up a bit, if it's designed right, you could make it in yellow and have it double as a raincoat for a future Coast Guard or port set. Lots of uses out of one part. I'd kiss whichever designer managed to get LEGO to make a 40's style detective agency over some other business in the modular line. Seriously. Sam Spade it up. *wub* Now, the part I hate to suggest. Put Gordon in an expensive set to guarantee yourselves the most justification for it. Give him Indy's hat in bley or tan to match the trenchcoat, and watch it sell. Guaranteed. You've made a brilliant move with Harley and the castle jester hat, do the same here. Quote
Joebot Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 My wish is more of a generalized one -- TLC needs to get away from their set design philosophy where EVERY FREAKING SET contains Good Guy Vehicle vs. Villain Vehicle. It's been done to death. The SW license doesn't fall into this rut; why can't they be a little more creative with the Batman license?? To echo what others have already said, I'd like to see some nice buildings, like a Gotham police station, maybe a bank or jewelry store, Wayne Manor, and of course some villain hideouts. There's so much cool stuff that could be done, if only TLC would finally, FINALLY move beyond the Good Guy Vehicle vs. Villain Vehicle sets. Quote
Brainbox Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 More Batmobiles? Yes. X-D but I think The Great White Shark is a little obscure. I don't know actually. He was a main character in Arkham Asylum: Living Hell (not the Morrison one), and recently instigated a take-over of the Gotham underworld in the one of first One Year Later Batman arc. So what do I want? Well, as I said already, more Batmobiles. In fact, scratch that, more repeat Bat-vehicles in different designs. Give us a Batplane (2+ seats), some more Batmobiles (all completely different) and a few other bits and pieces. Oh, and a Batsub, we've not got one yet. Maybe it could be a Batboat that 'transforms' into a Batsub. It'd be nice to see more heroes obviously. Gordon and some GCPD officers obviously. Give us Oracle as well. I'd settle for a Silver Age Batgirl as I could always use her costume in the Batcave, but really I want the modern Babs. Maybe give us a modern Batwoman too. As for the villains, I'd like to see Ras and Talia, as well as Man-Bat, Firefly, Mad Hatter and Ventriloquist/Scarface (Wesker, not Sugar). Other too of course, but mainly these. Wayne Manor is a must too, as well as (at least) a GCPD rooftop with the Batsignal, and maybe some hideouts. Oh, and more Batsuits. Actually, with Batman's 70th anniversary in May '09, I wonder if we'll see any special sets to mark the occasion. Maybe a Golden Age Batman or something. Quote

I don't understand though, are you saying you want it to be like StarWars and just have one vehicle in a set, or you want it to have buildings instead of vehicles? Or both? Yes. X-D Of course, that and Oracle, Green Ivy and any other form of Babs for you X-D I don't know actually. He was a main character in Arkham Asylum: Living Hell (not the Morrison one), and recently instigated a take-over of the Gotham underworld in the one of first One Year Later Batman arc. I still think he's far too obscure, not to mention I personally think he's a cheap character. Black Mask on the other hand... Not to mention a sleek batboat, unless that would be the batsubmersible, which would work. A nice sleek design that doesn't even need to transform much. A batplane would be great too, though it'd have to have a really different design to the Batwing. Question is, what other sort of Batmobile should they make? It'd be nice to see more heroes obviously. Gordon and some GCPD officers obviously. Give us Oracle as well. I'd settle for a Silver Age Batgirl as I could always use her costume in the Batcave, but really I want the modern Babs. Maybe give us a modern Batwoman too. I have Gordon and Batgirl at the top of my lists right now, Oracle and Batwoman would be fantastic as well. Lucius Fox I'd take, and an out-of-costume Dick Grayson and tim Drake in Wayne Manor. As for the villains, I'd like to see Ras and Talia, as well as Man-Bat, Firefly, Mad Hatter and Ventriloquist/Scarface (Wesker, not Sugar). Other too of course, but mainly these. I had forgotten about Scarface, he's one of my favourites, I'd love to see him, though I'd want the dummy mold to look good and be small enough. Clayface is another for me, and rereleases of Bane and Poison Ivy. Not to mention other incarnations like a green Ivy and classic suit Riddler. Wayne Manor is a must too, as well as (at least) a GCPD rooftop with the Batsignal, and maybe some hideouts. I agree, the first wave got it best: Small set get vehicles, Largest set Buildings. They should do that again, have a building the price of Arkham as a Wayne Manor playset, with the same number or more figs, most, like Arkham, new at the time. I wish they'd done that this year, even as an exclusive. Oh, and more Batsuits. Which ones would you like to see? These a version we haven't see yet in an alternate Batcave model in the instruction booklets that looks nice. Actually, with Batman's 70th anniversary in May '09, I wonder if we'll see any special sets to mark the occasion. Maybe a Golden Age Batman or something. That would brilliant, I'd love to see something special. Someone else mentioned a 60's Batmobile too, they should give us a UCE one at some point. Really, as much as people say there isn't much left in this line, they've really only scratched the surface with this line, heres hoping they keep digging. Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
Joebot Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I'd like to see more buildings as well, and vehicles too. I don't understand though, are you saying you want it to be like StarWars and just have one vehicle in a set, or you want it to have buildings instead of vehicles? Or both? My only point in bringing up Star Wars as a comparison is that the SW sets do not seem locked into the same tired, predictable "Good Guy Vehicle vs. Bad Guy Vehicle" design, as Batman is. The SW sets are all over the place -- sometimes one vehicle, sometimes two vehicles, sometimes a vehicle and a small building (Yoda's hut, cantina, Hoth base, etc.). Heck, SW has even had a vehicle-less building (Cloud City) set. The SW license appears to have a lot more freedom in that regard. I'd like to see the Batman license share that same creative freedom. I'm getting bored with the "Good Guy Vehicle vs. Bad Guy Vehicle" sets. The Batcave and Arkham Asylum were terrific sets. Let's see more of those please!! The same goes for the mini-fig assortment. TLC doesn't put Luke Skywalker in EVERY SINGLE SET. Why do they feel compelled to put Batman in every set?? Quote

I agree too, however you must realise that StarWars is different as it has a lot more focus characters and is a film series, as opposed to comic books. That said, they should make more sets like Arkham or the Batcave, and quick, before all the vehicles run out. I hope to see the line change its "policy" next year, if it get a fourth wave (please let it!), so that it will be more diverse. Plus vehicles restrict the amount of figs too, you can have two vehicles out of a whole lot of bricks, but ultimately two drivers. Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
The Penguin Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Well, gentlemen, I personally think that TLC should look carefully at its own Spider-Man series. Despite the fact that the line had been discontinued there were some pretty good sets and scenes there.... Why not use it in Batman? For example: This set was quite interesting: why not make the same with a dark-colored building, some other assesories and Joker vs Bats, for example? *sweet* Add Gordon here, some villain (Riddler on a tri-thing....) and Batman. That would be a marvellous set! ) Mr. Freeze laboratory? ) :-P Mad Hatter and and someone else here.... vs, say, Nightwing and Batgirl. ) And etc.... So we definitely need more buildings and scenes, not some wacky vehicles.... ) ;-) Good day, gentlemen! ) Quote
Batbrick Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 And etc.... Deinonychus Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Now...if LEGO could pull this off... Bruce Wayne used to have a private jet that would transform into a Batplane. That'd be a fun set to build and mess with...but I'm sure figuring out the practical construction of that would be a nightmare 8-| And can't we get Gordon and some GCPD cops in full riot gear? That'd make a nice figure pack with a police car or something Quote
