Take a close look at the video taster - he's there. Now added a 2nd PF rx. and split control for steering & driving, now much easier to control. When I first started to build the Boydell wheels I had intended to use LEGO Triangle Beam Type 1 (2905) for the each “foot” but in trials decided there would not be enough power to turn them. Instead I use LEGO Beam 3 x 3 T-shaped (60484) to build each foot. Now re-tried the Triangle beams again with new batteries and the Boydell Stomper judders along quite well, giving the driver an even more shaky ride. Which do you think looks / works best ? At the time I didn't have enough parts to get a uniform colour scheme ! Since reorganising my Lego work space found enough to be able use alternate black and light grey for 12 feet per wheel. New big feet now installed in alternate Black and Yellow. Now tested on a tiled floor and works OK forward but when travelling in reverse tends to slide on smooth tils when steering. Should be OKwhen running on a carpet. Makes quite a racket when at full speed and wheel feet are in a blur. Can you spot the drivers personal protection device. doug72 Posted October 2, 2017 Author Posted October 2, 2017 (edited) Update:- I am improving the Boydell Wheels to replicate the original better and to fix an issue with wheel axles. The Boydell wheels tended to slip on the axles as only restrained by the wheel hub and a half bush on the yellow 11L axle at the outer end. Now fitted black 12L axles which allows for much better end restraint at the outer ends. Awaiting more 1/4 circle gear quadrants in order to build new improved wheels which have two rims each side with feet attached in between with improved foot as per original. Feet around each wheel will be alternate:- Black-Yellow-Black and Yellow-Black - Yellow giving an alternating wasp stripe effect and will become another wacky function as the wheels rotate to dazzle and blind opponents. Found enough feet parts after a major reorganising of my Lego spares boxes. Should get the extra gear curved racks in next day or so. Now modified one wheel with new feet but with only one rim and its very hynotic looking at it when the wheel is at full speed. Quote

Meanwhile - One wheel re-built from the existing two original wheels to determine the best spoke positions on gear ring to avoid awkward connections for the feet. doug72 Posted October 3, 2017 Author Posted October 3, 2017 (edited) Mark 3 wheel increased the overall width of my machine and various connections a bit untidy so rejected. Mark 4 wheel now built: Took a while to get a satisfactory positioning of the six spokes and at same time keep pivot points for each foot equally spaced. Finally achieved it with spokes connecting in between to the two rims & keeping them spaced correctly apart, much tidier and stronger. Note, wheel destructor cone not shown but is attached to the two blue pins in wheel centre. Now happy with the wheels at last. This might work for a horizontal spinner with arms instead of feet.
