Canticleer blues Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Has anyone else noticed the similarities between the Indiana Jones, Bruce Wayne, and Dr. Jones faces? It seems that they based Indy and Dr. Jones' faces off the Bruce face and modified it according to the character. For instance, the Bruce face's eyebrows are recolored brown, the eyes are replaced, and then adds stubble to make the 'new' Indy face. The Dr. Jones face uses the same base, but uses Indy's eyes and adds a whole lot of detail (which is what makes it an awesome print *y* ). What do you think about this? http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2970427 ^ Picture for reference Just thought you might want to know. ;-) Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I agree with you completely - in fact, the Bruce Wayne face looks like Indy with a shave.... Quote
Derek Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Funny. Theyre all in the same set too! :-D Quote
Inertia Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Maybe LEGO couldn't be bothered to use a different base facial expression 8-| , in the 90's they only used this smily face with sunnies on for the Town sets, seems like they're doing it again... Quote
iamded Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Right you are! I'm sure I've seen this done with other faces too. ~Peace Quote
Johnny 5 Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 It probably keeps down costs to do it this way. Quote
Bobskink Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 (edited) Still, Henry Jones looks a lot like Sean Connery, which is good. Indy doesn't lresemble Harison Ford that much. Edited February 8, 2008 by Bobskink Quote
hollisbrick Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Lol X-D you have a good eye *y* way to go TLC *y* Quote
lego.ryan Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 That's really strange, I don't think I would've noticed unless I saw them all lined up like that. Quote
MagPiesRUs Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I'm sure I've seen this done with other faces too. Yes, all of the first pirate heads (and the other early heads) werebased off of the original smiley face. Just with some hair/moustache/stubble/lipstick added. Quote
Dadster Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Huh...the mouth is the most noticeable. It's funny that it was mentioned them all being from the same set! Nice find! Quote
Hinckley Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Wow! You're right! I think they used similar faces for these figures too: 8- Quote

Canticleer blues Posted February 24, 2008 Author Posted February 24, 2008 (edited) I just want to point this out- the Mutt face from the new IJ sets coming out in May seems to be another face with reused prints. This time, it's the eyebrows and chin line shared by all the faces above, and the eyes that are the same as Indy's. The only differences are that the mouth is different, and Mutt's pupils are bigger than Indy's. http://www.flickr.com/photos/no_onions/227...57603940580923/ ^ Compare this photo that Ace took from Toyfare to the pic above, I think you'll see what I mean. Inertia Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 The old city sets only ever used the Glasses face and the smiley one. :-) The bruce Wayne head is also the one in the Motor Cycle chase set for the nazi. :-D Quote
