Thirdwigg Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Again, great MOC. I'm a sucker for a good Recycle truck, and this one is no disappointment. Again, great design, and I look forward to more. Quote
MajklSpajkl Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Wow, this a real treat!!! Congratulations on such a compact design of the functions and fantastic looks. I really like how good you managed to overcome that lifing hinge of the back part with three functions! 11/10! Quote
steph77 Posted August 16, 2017 Author Posted August 16, 2017 Hi all, here is the final video for this project, demonstrating the full functionalities in a shorter vid (I finally got my basket balls ). Please support it at Lego Idea as it's been submitted (awaiting approval actually). Thanks! Quote
suffocation Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 This is such a beauty. I saw your tow truck on YT as well and was floored by how everything - both functionally and aesthetically - just flowed together and made sense. You've got tons of talent. Quote
Isamudyson Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 This is incredible. Will definitely support this on lego ideas. would love to give this to a friend who works in sanitation Quote
Erik Leppen Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 This is exactly how a great Technic set has to be. Lots of functions, but still a great looking truck. That said, I'm not sure whether it will work as a set, for children. The functions are realistic, but they may not speak to children's imagination as much as an excavator or a crane would. Especially the functions that handle the garbage will probably work the same way in reality, but they may not be "cool" enough for Lego's primary audience. They may also be a bit hard to operate for kids because they require a specific order. In normal sets this is often less the case. But as a MOC, it's as good as it gets. Do you think you will be doing some photos from the inner workings? Quote
steph77 Posted August 16, 2017 Author Posted August 16, 2017 (edited) Thanks EriK. I must admit that your reasoning may appear pertinent. This WE we were on a display, my son ,I ,and our models. About 12 models exposed and given to all kind of peoples and children to play with. The conclusion of that all is that the model that gets the bigger interested in was TLG official Volvo excavator. And second the garbage truck.... Our mind are really formatted and it's really difficult, you are right on this point, to find out what could make a good set for the primary audience. 3 hours ago, Erik Leppen said: Do you think you will be doing some photos from the inner workings? sure I can! MangaNOID Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 Really great truck! love all the manual operations on the top. good luck with IDEAS. can it collect a double lot of rubbish or would the first lot fall out? from the video it looked like the balls didn't go to the back of the receiving bit after being lifted up? The balls go correctly to the inner side of the truck, the video was cut a little to 'short' sorry. It is possible to load 15 balls Inside,(3 small bins or one small and one large bin). The system parts at the extremity of the bed are just a litle more thick than the liftarm of the floor so that once the balls are Inside they canot go out except with the ejector of course. Globaly the compactor works pretty well and is reliable. On a base of 15 balls, only 2 needs to be 're-compacted' to go to the bed. The issue is that, on the sides, the balls are blocked by the rail of the ejector's blade during the loading process and fall down back in the compactor's recipient. But you just have to run the compator cycle once again and it's ok. Quote
BrickbyBrickTechnic Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 This is just super nicely done. I had to watch the video 3 times just to take it all in. You will certainly receive my support on LEGO Ideas. Quote
