Batbrick Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 (edited) Okay, now before you get all excited, its a vignette I've made. So don't expect anything outstanding. This is a moc I made the other day after looking through TheBrickster's excellent Grave Stone creations. All credit goes to him for the inspiration for this moc, and thanks goes to him for the permission to post it. Anyway, I hope you enjoy. Roll camera! _______________________________________________________________________________ The Mystery of Axe Murder House What secrets lay within Axe Murder House? What poor souls met their end here? Through this very door? Under this very roof? Four victims slain by the man who went by the name of Billy Samwood.... Who lived in this very house not fifty years ago.... What secrets lay beneath Axe Murder House? Far beneath.... The threat of Billy Samwood has long since passed.... Or, as some ask upon the sight of the still-lit lantern, has it? Has it indeed.... THE END - or is it? __________________________________________________________________________ Hope you all enjoyed that little tale. Here are a few dayshots of the vig: The skeleton cave: And now here's it empty. I'm happy the way it came out: Brickshelf Gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=299428 Comments and Constructive criticism appreciated, on everything, the story, photograph and the actual vig. Thanks again TheBricktser, your wonderful Grave Stone mocs were a great source of inspiration, but I hope I still gave it a bit of it's own, unique atmosphere as well. iamded Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Oooh! Wow! I didn't expect something like this from you, but it's great! The steps leading up to the door, the door frame and brickwork, and the roof (in other words, the building :-P) are awesome! The cave below is also fantastic, I love the inclusion of the trans-red bricks, gives it a kind of gory feeling. *skull* *y* *y* Man those old skellies were awesome. *wub* R.I.P. Floppy-arm-joint skellies... :'-( ~Peace Quote
LuxorV Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 (edited) Very exciting story and great vig *wub* The detail I liked the most is the lantern on the right side of the door; neat design and very well placed *y* Just one question: Four victims slain by the man who went by the name of Billy Samwood.... Why are there 5 skeletons in the cave 8-| LuxorV Edited February 4, 2008 by LuxorV Quote

I'm glad you liked the story too. Oh, and about the fact that there are 6 skellies in the cave, well, my friend, thats part of the mystery.... Feel free to speculate. Asuka Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Phew, what a spooky and scary story that was, with a very atmospherical lightness for the pictures. The ax right next to the door Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 It great, though it does look very like the house one of my friend rents! The steps and door way are very well done. The cavern below looks very nice aswell, I also think the detailing on the roof near the chimney is very charming and it's one of those nice little touches. Quote
Lt. Veers Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 That scared the daylights outta me! X-O *skull* Great vig, Batbrick! Quote

WesternOutlaw Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 First, let me say thank you Batbrick for mentioning my Grave Stone MOCs and story. It's an honor for me to have inspired you to share your creative endeavors with us. First impression, I love the house. The black and orange works very well. This would make a great Halloween MOC. Interesting that you made a black wall behind the door. I think I did something similar in my Haunted Mine (so that black only shows behind the door). I see why you did this. The front of the house uses a simple yet effective design. The real creation, I think, lies in the grave pit below. Excellent grotto, and the skeletons within are rather spooky (if you really think about the mood and look that you've captured). - reminds me of a book of poems called Nightmares to Trouble Your Sleep (or something like this). In regard to the story, very creepy and suspenseful adding to the overall mood (once again). With each scroll down with the mouse, I was awaiting what would happen next.... Eeerie... *skull* Do you plan to make any more vignettes, or explore who exactly Billy Samwood is? A Jason-type of figure perhaps? Nice job. I hope I don't get the reputation for inspiring Axe Murder MOCs though. :'-( Quote
Batbrick Posted February 5, 2008 Author Posted February 5, 2008 (edited) First, let me say thank you Batbrick for mentioning my Grave Stone MOCs and story. It's an honor for me to have inspired you to share your creative endeavors with us. Thats quite alright, but really I am the one thanking you, I very much enjoy your mocs, and the wonderful stories behind them. First impression, I love the house. The black and orange works very well. This would make a great Halloween MOC. Interesting that you made a black wall behind the door. I think I did something similar in my Haunted Mine (so that black only shows behind the door). I see why you did this. I remember commenting on your mine, but actually didn't recall you putting a wall behind the door. On the upside of my house it makes it appear as if there is more behind it, on the downside, it can't open. But then again, it is abandoned, or is it? *skull* The front of the house uses a simple yet effective design. The real creation, I think, lies in the grave pit below. Excellent grotto, and the skeletons within are rather spooky (if you really think about the mood and look that you've captured). - reminds me of a book of poems called Nightmares to Trouble Your Sleep (or something like this). Thankyou, I agree too, the grotto was the main construction. I tried to get certain slopes to overlap, which I believe I achieved to some extent. Funnily enough I accidentally dropped it on the floor after I had finished, and had to start again. I also like the blurred pictures of the skeletons, particularly the opening one. In regard to the story, very creepy and suspenseful adding to the overall mood (once again). With each scroll down with the mouse, I was awaiting what would happen next.... Eeerie... *skull* Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it, I was hoping that the smaller I said in the story, the better. Do you plan to make any more vignettes, or explore who exactly Billy Samwood is? A Jason-type of figure perhaps?Nice job. I hope I don't get the reputation for inspiring Axe Murder MOCs though. :'-( Now that you say that I might. I like continuing on with things, and I would like to do a series of vigs, perhaps each vignette exploring a separate part of the house? I think that would work, with each room giving hints and clues to the house's past. I would like to explore Billy Samwood further, without of course removing his mystery. Afterall, even if he did supposedly kill himself after four murders as LuxorV speculated, why are there six bodies in the cavern? *skull* And you inspiring Axe Murder MOCs? Never! X-D Thanks for your comments though TheBrickster, I greatly appreciate them, and thanks again for letting me use your own creations as a great source of inspiration. Captain Ka-Boom Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 I might do a vig like this of an eskimo fishing through the hole of ice. Bit of a stereotype but oh well. The slopes in the cave make it look great alot less boring. Also the colour cheme looks great too. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Very spooky - you could make a haunted house out of this (hint hint)! Quote
hoang Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 very imaginative, i like the skeleton beneath the house *skull* Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Nice, I love the front of the house, very creepy and the cellar/underground tomb looks well executed (no pun intended!) with the sloping bricks. Nice story too, adds to the atmosphere. *skull* Quote
The Penguin Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Creepy! *skull* I like it! ) Your vigs are exellent as always. ) :-) Quote

Thanks Lord of Pies, I'm glad you like it. The sloping bricks was the hard part for me, the house was easy but for a few bits and the stairs. Glad you like the story too *sweet* Creepy! *skull* I like it! ) Your vigs are exellent as always. ) :-) Thanks The Penguin. You stuff are always great as well. Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
kill will Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Yay Batbrick! It has a good spooky atmosphere and I like it! Like you said, a series of vignettes would be cool, maybe have pictures on the wall that hint to its history... *skull* Quote
