teos Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 I'm trying to embed my youtube video like others have done for their contest entries to no avail. Would anyone explain how this is done? I followed the FAQ (media tag) which didn't work, then someone told me that the straight link worked (but didn't). I'm not tech savvy, so in basic terms would be preferable. This is also my first time with both a contest and making a youtube video. Thank you! Quote
Darkdragon Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Paste the direct link to the video, make sure it is http and not https at the start. Quote

agrof Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 (edited) No need for removing the "s" from http address in the new forum interface. Just copy the link of the Youtube video from the browser bar, and paste it here. It will be automatically embedded. Example: copy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBaFEO-aTbI paste it here, the result is: Yes, the site FAQ should be updated. Edited April 17, 2017 by agrof Quote
Milan Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 @teos I have placed proper video link in the entry Topic, in your Bot post. Hope you are ok with this :) Quote

JTS Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 I followed the FAQ to embed a video yesterday and that failed, and I know I'm not the only one - perhaps this needs updating. Like agrof said, copy the URL and paste it directly into the post. Give it a second and it will automatically change from a hyperlink to an embedded video. Also, make sure your video is set to public on YouTube. I found out it won't embed if it's set to private. Quote
Aventador2004 Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Jts brings up a good point. 1. Make the video public. 2. Upload the video. 3. Find the video. 4. Highlight http code. 5. Copy it. 6. Paste in post. Done . Quote

Aventador2004 Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Not sure then . Something must be preventing it. Quote
Marxpek Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 try this: go to your youtube video, then hit "share" (under your subscribe button) and try the link there? that works for me if i try to post your video: @teos Quote
Jim Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 17 hours ago, teos said: That doesn't work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzB5oqVrmao Your link seems to have formatting (other font). I think that might be the issue. Without formatting 1 hour ago, Marxpek said: try this: go to your youtube video, then hit "share" (under your subscribe button) and try the link there? that works for me if i try to post your video: @teos Yup, that results in a link without formatting. The s behind https isn't a problem anymore. Quote
Artanis I Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Following on from Jim's post, sometimes when you copy & paste there is a "paste with/without formatting" type of option. Try seeing if one of those makes a difference. If a message comes up below your post "You have pasted content with formatting. Remove formatting" ... simply click on "Remove formatting". Your text may turn into a hyperlink in the normal posting font. If you then add a line break after it, in a brief moment the video should appear. Quote
