m13d Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 In a couple recent GBC videos, I have seen what was described as the smallest possible legal GBC module. Basically, it was 10x10x10, with a lift at one end. I would love to make this as my first GBC module. Does anyone have any more information, or even better, build instructions? I will probably need to BrickLink about half the parts, so it would make a nice cheap easy first module for me. Quote
Leonardo da Bricki Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 If you don't mind, please post at least a link to these videos, if not some photos of this build, so we know what you want help with. Quote
mocbuild101 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Here is the rules: GBC Standard More information: http://greatballcontraption.com and http://www.planet-gbc.com Some instructions: GBC Instructions Hope that helps . Quote
RohanBeckett Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 to be honest, starting with the smallest module is rather boring... I'd highly recommend some of @Maico Arts's modules - http://greatballcontraption.nl/ he's done some really good, simple modules, and his PDF's are easy to follow.. I've build a few, and they are very reliable too! and from there.. work your way up to a 3000 piece Akiyuki! :) Quote

In this video, at 17:31 they show two of them, attached to each other, bit don't really talk about it: There is another example here, at 6:55, described as "a simple stepper": And again at 15:26, 6 hours ago, RohanBeckett said: to be honest, starting with the smallest module is rather boring... And they sort of work, with lots of hand holding. For about 2 minutes, then they jam, or fall apart. I want to make one simple one, that just works, to gain a little confidence. Then, as I better understand whats going on, i plan to re-visit my earlier attempts and fix them. Edit: Looking closer at Maico's site, I see two modules that are very close to what I was thinking of! http://greatballcontraption.nl/bi/eerste-kleine-mini.pdf and http://greatballcontraption.nl/bi/transparante-mini.pdf. I'll try those! Thanks! Edited April 16, 2017 by m13d Quote
Pickbricker89 Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 http://www.planet-gbc.com/ This website has been fundamental in getting me into the world of GBC. I just started dabbling in it recently, and this site has a fantastic database of GBC modules and separate sections for beginners, advanced, etc. My problem has been picking just one to settle on. Hope this helps! Quote
aeh5040 Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 It's not the type you asked about, but Kevin Mitcham has instructions for a particularly simple module here: http://www.kevinmitcham.com/gbc/index.html Quote

I'll try those! Thanks! Those are a great start. I took the 'transparent mini' and made 5 of them - all powered by a single motor, and flexible axle between each one: I've also built Zwarte Vier Stangen - Black Four Bars, and found that to be very reliable - a great use of all those spare axles, and connectors! Red Piston is a good one, if you have some of the old square piston blocks - although any of the 'rainbow steppers' are similar design Quote
Lasse D Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Maico. Do you remember who made the 10x10x10 micro GBC module? I recall you had some of them in your collection, and it might be what OP is looking for. Quote
Maico Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 (edited) @Lasse D, @m13d is already refering to them in his post of April 16th at the end of his message. Edited May 10, 2017 by Maico Quote
Lasse D Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 Ah yes. I see now that this is the same design - just with a longer inbox. Quote
