8455 - alternate bucket types?

The 10 x 18 bucket in Black is used in this set, i am wondering if the older type in Yellow could be used instead?

the yellow bucket is 4 studs more narrow. S oi thinkt it would not really fit.

It would be good if Lego offer a selection of buckets in the future which could all fit on a backhoe, would be cool to be able to change from a trenching bucket to a grading bucket.

To truly answer such question, we need to look at the back of the buckets and see if the pin holes locations match. In real life machines, the locations of such pivot point is always the result of a kinematic optimization of piston stroke vs bucket curl ... etc. I only havr the 8455 so I cannot answer your question. However, your post begs the question: Why?, are you after a different color bucket?

You could always try to build your own buckets :)
