Bregir Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Last we saw Montoya, he was setting out from Isla de Medio to escape the unpleasant realities of war and politics and once more turn his attention to the sciences. Now he had arrived at Cascadia, where he met the vanguard of the newly formed Royal Pioneers in the form of the recon section, who are specialised in exploration and reconnaisance. They are now venturing through the jungle looking for a place to establish a base of operations for future expeditions into the heartland of Cascadia. A base that would in time be known as Camp Isaac, named after Montoya. With the pioneers clearing the way, Montoya has ample time to stop and smell the flowers. Or more accurately put, to stop to catalogue and decribe them in the name of science. Quote
Mesabi Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Nice build! The foliage is really well done. I'm excited to see where the story goes. Quote
gedren_y Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Just watch out for the one eyed, one horned flying purple people eater. Quote
Captain Genaro Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 That's a great jungle build you have there. I love the use of the sea plant piece to create hanging vines and branches; very convincing. I also like the use of different flowers on several of the trees. It helps differentiate the trees and makes it appear that they are different species. The slight variations are very realistic, too. Overall, nicely done. I would recommend replacing the brown path with green. Brown makes the path appear well-tread, but the growth in front of the explorers suggest that the path is just being cleared now. Quote

Brandon Stark Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Nice job on the jungle. The minifig posing looks great, and I also like all the trees that make the jungle look dense. Quote
Ayrlego Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 Good to see Montoya as arrived in the paradise isles, even if it is the wrong one! Hopefully Dirk will be able to get away from his duties as governor for long enough to join Montoya for a expedition further into the jungle! Like Captain G, I really like the foliage here, especially the upside down sea plants. Regarding the Royal Pioneers, it's a personal nitpick, but the pith helmets, while looking great (especially with the blue pants) are a bit late in the time period for me. (Although it does make me want to pull out all my pith helmets (I have a grand total of 2 or 3! ) and fig-barf some Victoria era soldiers when I get home...) Anyway looking forward to joining Montoya on Cascadia for 5E! Quote
Captain Dee Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 Beautiful jungle scene! The mass of hanging vines creates that overgrown jungle look very well and the position of the other plants makes it look like the men are really working hard to progress forward. The stream is nice - and pretty much mandatory for a jungle, right? I agree with the thought that the brown path would look better in green, since they're just now exploring it all, but it looks great overall. Keep it up. Quote
