Norro Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Just curious if I'm the only footy fan on here (I'm a Man U fan but am feeling a little low... first the lego colour change then the glazer thing...) anyways...back on topic, the game today was superb. I watched it with about 30 Liverpool fans who went from tears to tears (of joy :-D )... God Bless, Nathan Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 25, 2005 Governor Posted May 25, 2005 No I didn't. But how would you feel if LEGO made a set out of this? Quote
eDeevo Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Call me an "ignorant American", but I seriously have no idea what you're talking about... is it soccer perhaps? Life is Good. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 26, 2005 Governor Posted May 26, 2005 I have no idea what he's talking about either... But I thought I'd pretend... Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Clear things up for us, Norro. ;) I also have no clue. *wacko* I know that Americans call what is "soccer" is in other countries "football", and in the U.S., "football" is a whole different game. (We in America are very weird folks. :| ) Is that what you mean by saying "footy"? I'm not at all a big sports fan, so I have no idea about the terms some people use. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 26, 2005 Governor Posted May 26, 2005 I'm not American and it requires disambigufying. Here soccer is called soccer and footy refers to something else... Quote
Vader Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 To most of the world the word football refers to soccer, last night was the Champions League final. Its one of the biggest games of the year and it was watched by millions of fans all over the world, the two teams were Ac Milan (Itallian) vs Liverpool (English). The game was one by Liverpool in the end and it was one of the best games ive seen, and whats best is that im a lifelong Liverpool fan!!!!!! So your talking to one happy guy this morning folks :) :) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 26, 2005 Governor Posted May 26, 2005 Soccer would seem to have the most foot to ball contact of all the sports that call themself "football" Quote
xwingyoda Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Go REDS !!!!! Yeahhhhhhhhhh Congrats to you !!!!!! I see Vader is as excited as I am hehe ;) (even if I'm quarter italien...) I've always loved English and Italien football (and not soccer because as Jipay said, we're a European website, hence this vovabulary ;) ) What a game: having 3 goals in the face at half time and scoring 3 goals in 6 minutes!!! Thats what happens in those games!!!!!!!! Suspense, emotion, fantastic game !!!!!!!! Quote
snefroe Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 i think you can compare the popularity of the Champions League with your Super Bowl... it's a european competition of more or less the best 50 teams in Europe. it starts in september and ended yesterday. i wasn't really impressed. we may have had an exciting game because of the large number of goals, but i didn't really see the best football from a technical point of view... Quote
Vader Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 At half time we thought it was all over, never have i seen such a comeback like that in a final. My hearth rate must of been erratic to say the least :-D It was a rollercoaster of emotion that i will never forget and i shall savoir this win whilst i can. Quote
jonfett Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Hey Norro! I'm a Man U fan too! ;) Too bad we didn't make it to the final, and all that crap with Glazer |-/ But that game was great! I, with every other footy fan in the world, didn't think Liverpool could do it (if only I had placed a bet!) From 3-0 down, to 3-3 was great and I thought they deserved it after their performance in the first 20 minutes of the second half. The penalty shoot out is always a bad way to loose a game (as we Man U fans saw last week :/) but Liverpool did well, Dudek certainly entertained us all! :-D It really was a great game, and congrats Vader.. your team did it! Jon. Quote
Vader Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Cheers Jon :) , its always good when a team from your home country wins the chapions league, its even better when its your team as you well know :) :) :) Quote
jonfett Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Yeah, well most of my family was watching the game (as we are all footy fanatics!) and my Mum was shouting and appealing to the TV constantly. She had a laughing fit when she saw Dudek putting them off in the penalties! :-D Your right though, I'm glad an English team won it! Jon. Quote
snefroe Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 No I didn't. But how would you feel if LEGO made a set out of this? this is already been done by tlc. it's standing in Windsor legoland :P all right, a bit larger than a set :P Quote
jonfett Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 I'm sure there are much better pics out there, but here's once from my gallery.. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=725612 Jon. Quote
