soccerkid6 Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 I mainly wanted to experiment with dark orange as a predominant landscape color for this build, and I think it turned out nicely. Credit for the tree design goes to Joeri Ridder. The mill does work, in that the oxen can be ‘driven’ around easily and the mill stone is driven in turn by them. Ox driven mills are one of the simplest mills, yet still quite effective. Most towns and villages in Mitgardia have at least one of these mills. "More barley to be ground, Ailin?" "Yep, will be one of the last trips for me though. Nearly finished with my harvest." More pics on brickbuilt. Thanks for looking Quote
Henjin_Quilones Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Very nice, SK! The reddish dirt reminds me of the dirt in my yard, rich in iron and very clayey. I love the functionality of the build, a normal thing for your builds it seems, but quite fun. The tree is great, too. My one complaint would be that the wheat stalks are too thick, but I have yet to see it done well in Lego scale. Quote
dathil Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Do you ever stop moccing?:P It is great, the color for the landscape works fine Quote
Kai NRG Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Great build, I really like the fact that it actually "works!" Nice choice of ground color also although I'm not quite sure it goes too well with the dark green tree. Speaking of the tree though, that's a wonderful technique - one of the best I've seen of the simpler kind! Quote
Grover Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 The dark orange works really well here. Looks like moist clay, with the tan being the beaten down, dried earth from the oxen. I like the overall feel, along with the functionality. The bits of crops and the tree make it look like it's part of a larger scene as well. Very impressed (as usual with your work!). Quote
TitusV Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 The dark orange landscaping looks amazing I'm less sure about the (d tan) tiled part, it seems a bit too smooth in my eyes, but I guess it makes turning the oxes (a great feature, by the way) a lot easier. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Great stuff - fine colour scheme. Quote
The Maestro Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 That dk orange is beautiful here and love it with the dk tan Great feature. Quote
Slegengr Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Lovely mill, SK! The use of oxen is a nice idea for this build! I also really like the earth orange dirt. I hope those 1x2 plates in earth orange show up on PaB walls at some point to make them affordable for large landscapes! The well-trodden dark tan path works quite well here. That tree trunk is really interesting and realistic with the angles and textures! It was a good idea to include a small wheat patch in the corner. I also like the mushrooms to break up the terrain a little bit. Nice simply effective functionality! Quote
Isundir Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 a gorgous little build, but then again I don't think I've ever seen a build from you I haven't loved. Quote
Umbra-Manis Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 The dark orange worked great, and this is a great build as usual from you! Quote
Gunman Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 As others said, dark orange works great! Quote
LittleJohn Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Excellent build, Isaac! The landscaping colors work surprisingly well for Mitgardia, and I like the addition of the wheat field in the corner Great tree and function too Quote
Mpyromaxos Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Another beautiful creation from you SK! I believe also that dark orange looks great! Quote
MassEditor Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 A risky choice, but the dark orange looks good - especially next to the olive green leaves. Nice looking mill! Quote
Garmadon Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Great combination of colors and textures, SK, and really neat mill as well! As I mentioned on Flickr, that tree is fantastic too, and for some reason I really like that combo on the mill driver! Quote
