Ole! As promised here is the first set of European Imperial maps to complement the flags. Now obviously trying to map territories acurately is nigh impossible, especially on so small a scale so I don't want to hear moaning and groaning about how some minor area is coloured wrong unless it is a substantial inaccuracy. Also because the Spanish Empire spans around four centuries and there are a number of changes I've simply taken a rough layout of the Spanish Empire in it's early days which is symbolised by the flag which is the Cross of Burgundy, amoung the Spanish flags I've done previously. The later day Empire, very radically reduced is symbolised by the more contemporary flag of Spain. These flags aren't intended to be highly educational but they do show realistically how large the Spanish Empire was and how swiftly it deteriorated. Stay tuned for the Portuguese coming to an EB Pirate forum near you soon! X-D

Ahhhhhhhhh excellent! This is just what we need to launch our expedition.

Now all the LEGO Group needs to do is release a large Treasure Galleon so I can resurrect the Treasure Fleet again. It'll be just like old times!

I've always wondered what a Conquistador is doing downunder :-D I'm assuming that while trying to round the Cape Horn you got blown just a wee bit off course, landed up in Sydney Harbour, mistook the Opera Houses for the pyramids of the Aztecs, went off into the Outback to find El Dorado and ended up finding a 'beeahr' in a dusty bar in Alice Springs. X-D It was time I made these maps and broke the bad news to you about where Mexico is... Remember, it's the first right after Florida next time. :-P

The honest truth is the Spanish were the first Europeans to arrive in Australia. We arrived on the north west coast and had a quick look only to discover this "Outback" you mentioned. Since New Spain was already a dust bowl we didn't need another in the southern hemisphere so the decision was to leave. After all, the might Inquisition had more important things to do like discover gold rather than waste timing settle in an inhospitable environment.

But I said NO! This may turn out to be quite a fine land if we explore it a bit more. But they said NO we want gold and left me behind. So I stayed, explored and established a settlement. This is why people live in Australia to this very day.

Of course those other nations will never admit to it so history is written very differently....

Well if it's any consolation all your old buddies are at the bottom of the English Channel courtesy of a certain mister Drake now whereas you escaped that fate and now you're up to your helmet in bbq's, beer and bikini clad beaches so it would seem you did make the right choice. X-D

"Francey" as I like to call him (or as "El Draque" as my buddies preferred) still met his end at the hand of the Inquisition!

That cannon ball out very own El Morro Castle shot into his ship's cabin was laced with dysentery, so we had the satisfaction of knowing he died very unpleasantly.

Very nice maps Col. Whipstick, they look great, very detailed, I like the way you included different time periods!

I think I will start with my French maps now, seeing as you are speeding of into the South African sunset with these maps, whilst I am still at the starting line.

lol... I wish I could see a South Africa sunset right now but I'll have to settle for that murky grey half-light over Oxfordshire. X-D

I'll delay my French maps and put them after the Dutch, British etc so your's get full attention and we don't flood the forum.
